Hello,
I have made a trust pact with my children... but still, I sometimes want to check their internet browsing!
In Internet Explorer, it's relatively easy to check (even if they delete the history) by going into the cookie files, but since they installed Google Chrome, I can't figure it out...
I went to C/documents and settings/USER/local settings/application data/Google/Chrome/User data/Default... and there, I find files named cookies, History, or even History Index by month... but I can't open them!
Can you help me check what my little monsters are doing when I'm not around?

Without wanting to lecture you, by asking this question on this site, you are breaking your trust pact. Honestly, I’m 23 years old, I have been using the Internet for over 10 years, and my parents never needed to check where and when I logged in (my father is a computer scientist, they could have done it).
Sure, all teenagers visit sites that probably won't make you very happy. But I doubt that "monitoring" or even better, installing a camera is really useful.

To get back to your problem, cookies can be accessed via:
Customize (the little key at the top right) -> Options -> Advanced Options -> View Cookies
and history:
Customize -> History

However, my 12-year-old son has already broken our contract three times by visiting very hardcore adult porn sites... and I am absolutely against this because he is definitely not old enough to be going on such sites.
To punish him, I took away the internet connection by taking the cable with me to work!
The problem is that it also penalizes my other son, who is 11 and has not yet shown that kind of curiosity...
Hence the idea of this pact, while still keeping an eye on their browsing... they know that I check it from time to time, which helps avoid visits to sites that are not suitable for their age.

Let's be honest: if they found anonymous browsing (and honestly, it's not hard), you won't have any way to monitor them; I'm not even sure that restoring deleted files (which works very well with IE to recover deleted cookies) will yield any results.

I will indeed offer them a deal for my peace of mind: either uninstall Google Chrome and go back to our good old IE, or implement parental controls...
They are still too young to discern things and properly filter the internet. The digital age doesn't make things easier, and soon the issue of file transfers on mobile phones will also arise!!!

Make them clearly understand that it's for their own good, and that porn sites are the least harmful thing they can come across...

The path is as follows C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache (for Windows Seven). The files are not readable as they are by Windows. You will need to use a third-party application such as ChromeCacheView.exe
But honestly, it's useless... Simple Google searches will quickly allow them to find out how to easily bypass your checkpoints. The solution that seems most reliable to me to prevent porn is to use a parental control solution (at the source: on the box, the software solutions installed on the PC are also too easy to bypass)

You should just uninstall Google Chrome and they can switch back to Internet Explorer, it's better than Google Chrome

you can set the EXACT number of minutes he can spend on the internet and NOT MORE :)

I will try to install Chrome to check this

They've already deleted all or part of the history!! But with Internet Explorer, I could even tell them what time they logged in! ... For now, they don't know as much as I do about computers... but soon, they'll surpass the master for sure!

No, for Google Chrome, the History is not on your disk, go to "Customize and control Google Chrome"
