Hello,
I have a problem with my Nikon Coolpix P50 camera. When I turn it on, it says "WARNING THE BATTERY IS DEAD" and it turns off immediately. I sent it back to be repaired, and they told me it was oxidized and that all the circuits needed to be changed, so they sent it back to me unrepaired. A week later, it started working. Now it's saying the battery is dead again. How can I resolve this issue? Thank you.

The solution is very simple; I had exactly the same thing happen with my Coolpix: only use the provided USB charger.
If I plugged the device's USB cable into any charger other than the Nikon one, it would turn off and 24 hours later it still wasn't charged!
Since then, I only recharge with the charger that came in the box and have had no problems at all... ;-)
