Hello,
Here comes summer, it’s great, the weather is nice, the birds are singing and nature is showcasing its finest, but also those pesky insects that find their way under your LCD screen and wander around just to annoy you.
Is there a way to prevent this? Even a homemade solution would be welcome.
Thank you.

Hello,
I had an insect in my Samsung SyncMaster 2380M screen.
It wandered around the screen for a good part of the afternoon before dying in the top right corner of the screen. It got stuck there for about an hour, then disappeared. It must have fallen to the bottom of the screen. Anyway, no more bug for now in the screen.
So, I called Samsung because my screen is only 6 months old.
Well, this kind of problem is not covered under warranty (what a surprise).
The technician told me that the panel needs to be dismantled because insects get in through the casing that contains the screen, and there is a tiny gap between the panel and the protective plastic, providing a large play area for bugs.
So, you either have to dismantle the panel yourself (at the risk of messing things up and scratching the screen) or entrust the work to a professional, which will increase the cost of the screen because of a cursed insect or, rather, because of poor design of LCD screens.
Of course, do not try to crush the insect because you will end up with a nice stain that won't come off.
So just let the insect roam and when it dies, pray for it and hope it falls to the bottom.
I will therefore spray insecticide throughout the room and near the back of the screen, around the ventilation areas, being careful (screen off, of course).
Then I will leave a dish with white vinegar on my desk; I hear that this scares insects away. Let's test it!
Maybe one day manufacturers will provide a mosquito net for LCD screens! LOL!
I prefer to joke because I’m a bit annoyed anyway!

The insect barrier from Téléshopping around the screen?... lol!
;-) It's always better than the fly swatter or worse, the flip-flop!
Otherwise, for the convinced hardcore ecologist, there's the frog solution.
But, well, first you have to catch the tiny frog, train it not to knock over the jar on the keyboard or worse. If the PC is in a bedroom, remember to put the frog in the garage at night to avoid the annoying croak at 0:57
Thanks for this interlude, I had never thought there could be so many solutions :-D

Phil IP, IP so I don't lose the Phil!
A bit that feels down is a bit that has zero morale...

Those little bugs that settle in the screen matrix :/ it's really bad,
I had this issue last year. I had to wait for the bug to go away by itself xD
To close it, put a sponge soaked in white vinegar, it keeps a lot of bugs away and eliminates bad odors (grandma's technique, but it seems to work :p )

When will there be a problem-free configuration? Long live support forums! ^^

Close, given the heat I prefer not to and I don't have a fan
otherwise vinegar yeah why not but I'm already freaking out like crazy when a capped can is lying within 3 meters of my gear :p
well it’s not a big deal my screen isn’t high-end but it’s the same thing every year it’s just annoying you know. Long live the joys of the countryside :D
A question: is a Samsung T220 screen (or another one if you know ;) ) waterproof to this kind of stuff? Since I was planning to buy a new one soon anyway, I might as well get one that avoids this kind of hassle.

Ah ok I read it wrong again and understood a bowl of vinegar instead of a sponge soaked in vinegar XD
It's definitely less risky, anyway it doesn't hurt to try, all I'm risking is an unpleasant smell :D

The smell of vinegar is a bit unpleasant, certainly, but don’t leave the sponge for a week, lol. You leave it for 2-3 days with the windows open, and you’ll see that after removing the sponge and the smell of vinegar is gone (2 days), the air in your room will be clean, so to speak, and there won't be any insects on the horizon for a little while.
Yes, a sponge! A bowl wouldn’t be of much use because the sponge will absorb both the germs and the bad smells at the same time.

I also sprayed a little above the vents of the screen that I had turned off. And there you go, knowing the problem, I will be more vigilant this summer with my computer.
I haven't tried white vinegar yet...
