Black screen when launching PS3 game

Question

Hello,

I bought my PS3 a few months ago, and right from the start it had the issue described below.

I disabled the automatic game launch, so I have to launch them by "clicking" on them from the XMB. When I insert a game into the PS3, it reads it correctly and it appears in "Game", then when I launch it, the "PlayStation 3" logo appears, and then a black screen, nothing. I can press all the buttons on the controller, it doesn't change anything, so I take out the disc and the PS3 goes back to the XMB...

It's really frustrating, especially considering the console is practically new; it doesn't happen all the time, it's like it does it whenever it wants, and with any game...

What's causing this? What should I do? Is this normal?

And to think I switched to PS3 hoping to get something more reliable than a 360... disappointed.

Hello, I found and fixed my problem, damaged utility data just needed to be deleted and everything works like before!  Thanks anyway to everyone and happy end of year celebrations. eLEvEnStaR.

you need to use the warranty, you can't do anything yourself. It could be a hardware issue, or a firmware problem, for example.

Good evening!
My problem is the same except that it only happens with one game!
Let me explain, this morning wanting to play my current FPS (Cod6), I launched the game, and then I was told that an update was necessary, so I started it, and then an error occurred during the download. Hum, problem... I quit and relaunch from a spot closer to my router for a better connection, and then, sacrilege! The screen is black, so I do like Skatebabar and return to the XMB... Alarmed, I immediately try another game (Assassin's Creed 2) and it works right away! I have checked, as Goox said, if there was a system update that might be causing the problem, I see there is one but it’s optional.
So where does the problem come from?
