Hello,
A little issue with MAIL:
I have removed the sidebar scroll bar (with scroll arrows) and can't get it back despite my attempts in the "Preferences" of Mail and other menus.
Additional question:
Is there a way to request a read receipt for messages with Mail?
If so, which one?
Thank you in advance

Hi Francis!
Nice to see you again!
So I did what you told me:
- For the toolbar: everything is fine (I tried the attempt you mentioned).
- However, for the "BAL" button in the upper left corner: I didn't have it. Is it one of the "favorites" that we can drag into the toolbar? If that's the case, I added it. When I click on the "BAL" icon, it hides the left part of MAIL (Inbox, Sent Messages, Trash, etc....): only the list of received messages remains on the screen... but without the sidebar with the small arrows.
Attempt at explanation:
last week, I had "my quarter-hour exploration" (which hadn't happened to me in a long time and explains my silence...). I went through the MAIL menus and I remember changing the presentation of messages in the Inbox: it seems I disabled the function that systematically displayed the last message in the "message area"... But in which menu??? That's the problem...
I hope these explanations can give you more details.
Thank you!
Best regards

Everything seems normal to me.
It’s the same at my place when all my inboxes are minimized since there’s no reason to have that scroll bar. I also always keep my preview pane closed. (safer considering spam, because spammers detect the validity of an address by the fact that their message is read, if images or HTML code are included)
Try it out, reduce the height of your Mail window, you will probably see this bar appear at some point....

Good evening Cahuete,
Try 2 things ..
- Make sure the toolbar is active by clicking on the little oval button in the upper right corner.
-Then click on the "BAL" button in the upper left corner, the button that shows/hides the sidebar...
and let us know what happens ..
Best regards

It might be something really simple,
if all your mailboxes are collapsed, there won't be a scroll bar. However, if you expand your mailboxes and subfolders (by clicking on the little triangles next to the mailbox/folder names), then the scroll bar will reappear. You should check, as this happened to a friend who called me all upset..

Response to Francis,
"If your mailbox folders are all collapsed"
Actually, on MAIL, I only have one mailbox: the main one. So I don't have the small triangles you mentioned since it looks like this:
- Inbox
- Sent messages
- Trash
- Reminders (with a triangle)
- On my MAC (with a triangle)
- RSS (with a triangle)
The funniest thing is that in the trash, for example, I have the scroll bar... it's just that it's missing in the inbox because I didn't want the first message (selected by default) to appear readable in the message section.
Now I have my list of received messages, with none selected (so no message displayed clearly in the message area)... but no more sidebar.
Listen Francis, it's not a big deal... it doesn't stop me from managing my email. I'll try to find my trick again (if I find it, I'll let ccm know right away).
Thanks again!!!
