PS2 NTSC Games in PAL Solved/Closed

I have a problem, I have a PS2 game in NTSC and I would like to convert it to PAL because my TV doesn't support NTSC games and when I play, it's in black and white! I'm unhappy. If someone has knowledge, could they please help me, it's very important

but it's too simple, you just have to download the ntsc2pal software, then create an image of your PS2 game CD or DVD and convert it from NTSC to PAL and burn it

Salu, I am a young Cameroonian who has the same problem. I bought a PAL console and received a NTSC game, it doesn't work, and you know it's not easy to get this kind of stuff here and the programs are too expensive, so if you could give me a simple way (technical) to convert my console so that it can read NTSC and BACKUPS, I would appreciate it... thank you, I am waiting impatiently.

Hi, to play import games, the only viable solution is hardware modification. It may seem unusual, but it's prohibited by Sony, so it’s off-limits: I’m sorry.

P.S: region locking still exists for money reasons, and it won't be resolved anytime soon. Let's still acknowledge Nintendo's effort with the DS, which is region-free.

If you make an ISO of your game and then burn it with the patch, you will need Swap Magic 3.6 for your PS2 to be able to read your copy. Also, look online; there are some good shops.

To play NTSC or PAL PS2 games on a PAL (European) PS2, you can buy the Swap Magic DVD. A DVD that allows you to play burned games (backups) and especially to play games in NTSC format. Swap Magic is available on Priceminister at prices ranging from €18 to €25 or more depending on the version of the DVD and additional features. There you go, enjoy ;)

So, in summary, when we have a new game in NTSC and we want to play it with our PAL PS2, we just need to buy the swap magic 3.6 and it works?

In theory, yes, it works.

I have a PS2 slim PAL, and I have Swap Magic 3.6.

Out of the 14 NTCS games I have, I can only play half of them; the others often bug during the game or freeze during loading (meaning the program reads fine, but during loading, the lens gets stuck at the edge of the CD and the console freezes).

So yes, the Swap Magic 3.6 DVD is great, but it’s not infallible.

Personally, I have another problem; I bought a memory card online with a save file on it. The memory card comes from the USA, and my console doesn’t recognize it. Are there different versions of memory cards (PAL and NTSC)?

For the memory card, I can't really answer you... Given your response, I'm honestly hesitant to either buy the game in France and give up on the NTSC version (it would be a shame to have bought it for nothing, but oh well...) or to get the swap magic, but in that case, is it just the DVD or do I need to put pieces in the console to block certain mechanisms? I can't seem to get a clear idea.

Honestly, if you can buy the game in France, don’t overthink it. My thing is US sports games, they don’t come out in France, so there’s not much choice. Plus, you're always disappointed buying an import that you can't use. But on the other hand, if you buy an NTSC console, you can't use it on your TV. So the swap is always the best compromise for those who only have the option to play imports. After, the pieces to insert and the DVD, it’s child’s play to use.

Hi, I'm new!!!
This is just to give some clarifications about Swap Magic.
First of all, if you have an NTSC console, then get an NTSC Swap Magic too (and if it's a PAL, get a Swap Magic 4 PAL).
Next, the Swap comes in a pack of 1 CD, 1 DVD, parts, and the slim card.
The CD is for copying your games onto CD and the DVD is for DVD copies and originals (since they are in DVD-ROM or PS2-ROM).
The supplied parts (except the slim card) are only for the PS2 slim (again, except the slim card).
And no, unless your console is already "region-free" thanks to the chip, there is no other solution to play import games or ISO format.
Finally, keep in mind that if you play with ISO formats, over time you will inevitably encounter a bug or even a freeze during your games because the console will always tend to overheat due to the speed of the ISO CDs or DVDs (it's best to burn them at 2x).
Lastly, for those who are going to get Swap Magic 4 and have a standard PS2 (that is to say, the big black one, NOT the PS2 slim), I recommend looking for a tutorial video on YouTube for Swap Magic because the manual included in the pack is only for the PS2 slim, except for the slim card instructions.
To finish (to spare you from brooding like I did at the beginning of using the Swap), it is when the screen with "loading the program" appears that you should insert the import game.

If I were you, I would forget the Swap Magic trick because this thing is a PS2 hack -_- so if I were you, I would install a modchip, it's easier, but be careful, to install the modchip you need to be a DIY pro, otherwise you can have your modchip installed by a professional. Have a good day.
