External sound card crackling issue MOTU

Hello,
I have a problem with my external sound card, a Motu 896HD.
Regularly, I experience sound interruptions with "crackles" emitted through all my outputs (the 8 + the main out).
I have tried updating the drivers, changing the FireWire cable, and the FireWire PCI card, but nothing works.
I am working on an HP desktop with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and Windows XP Professional.
I record on Nuendo 3.
If someone can find a solution to my problem, that would be great, all my recordings are cut off and listening under these conditions is frustrating.
Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows XP Professional Motu 896HD sound card HP Intel Core 2 Duo Nuendo 3

Is there enough memory chips or bit rates... and Khrz, test the sound card with another music source...

    Hello everyone

if it cracks you need to adjust by increasing the latency (or increasing the buffer size, it's the same thing)

check the settings in your sound card you should have a latency of around 3 or 6 ms which is low sometimes if your PC doesn't keep up, gradually increase it and you’ll see it shouldn’t crack anymore

How do I test all of this?
In any case, it's not the sound card since I had it changed thinking that the problem came from it, but nothing changed; I still have the same issue...
    Thank you for your response.

The Motu card should come with a sound mixer that includes a CD. There, you will find different adjustment parameters; it should be located in the Motu file in the program files. Try all of this a bit to familiarize yourself with the capabilities of the card, test with other speakers, test another FireWire port, test the sound source on another system. Does a regular CD produce the same phenomenon? If the card has been changed, the sound source or the speakers are likely the problem. Nuendo might also be the culprit. I've had similar problems that originated from the software or the sound input with equalization or compression defects, especially in digital and MIDI. Motu is a good product; internal would have been better for speed... ELSHIVERO on LAST.FM is my alias, I use 6 computers with a variety of sound cards, try 16 bits/44.1 kHz and more if everything goes well.

    Hello,
I know my sound card perfectly and I have already tried it with another firewire cable and even another firewire pci card
The problem does not come from my speakers as I can see the crackling on the out vu meters of my card.
The issue doesn't come from my project either, as it happens with all of them...
I just think it's a conflict issue between the computer and the card, but I don't see what the problem could be...
    Thank you

I have the same problem since I installed the new drivers with CueMix FX. Before, with regular CueMix, I had no issues. Try older drivers, the ones just before CueMix FX was released.

    Hello,
thank you for the response, I don't know where to find an earlier version of the driver...
Especially since my cuemix opens but I have no indication on it, I have the faders, the mutes, and so on, but nothing is marked, all the text has disappeared...

Hello, I would like to know the continuation of your discussion because I have the same problem with a Motu 828 USB2 sound card on Windows XP SP3. During my sound disruptions, a beep occurs. Is this a conflict?

Yes, Windows plus the various components of poor quality lead to beeps and audio interruptions.
MOTU cards are really not stable on PC.

First, you need to try different versions of Windows, find the one that causes the least cracking with the MOTU, buy a high-quality FireWire cable and, if possible, a 6-pin FireWire port (not the small ones), and find optimized drivers for video.
After all that, it’s possible that the beeps and cracking may still persist.

Thank you for your response. If I understand correctly, it's Windows that's messing up. I definitely need to buy a Mac, but since I can't afford it, I'll try your advice. Otherwise, has anyone tried it on Linux? No traces of installation on the CD... we'll see. If I find the solution, I'll keep you updated.

I have a similar problem with a MOTU Ultralite... except that the issue comes from MIDI... the notes keep hanging. I've tried everything and nothing works, even the IT engineers can't help me... In fact, I think we're just getting ripped off by either Apple or Microsoft.

A big thank you to "Anonymous". I had the same problem as you with a MOTU 828 MKII on a PC with Win XP SP3.

I turned off the Wi-Fi and everything works perfectly

Hello, I have owned a MOTU ultralite for over 2 years now and I have never experienced any problems until recently.
For some time now, I have been encountering conflicts that produce those infamous crackles, first when playing a sound, whether it's played by Winamp, Fruity Loops, or any other software; the crackles appear when I turn on my HD TV, since it seems I replaced the DVI/VGA cable with a DVI/HDMI.
Even more recently, I get the same problem when a sound is played while the DVD drive is being used. So, it's impossible to play a DVD or burn while listening to music; in short, a real problem.
I have already tried a lot of things regarding the card configuration, reinstalled and updated the drivers, changed the FireWire port, unplugged the screen and the Wi-Fi, nothing works.
Since the problem appeared quite recently, there must be a solution; perhaps changing the DVD drive...

Thank you so much if anyone has any idea.

One piece of advice: work with Mac. I work with the same external sound card but with a Mac, I've never had this
    problem.

Well, I'm starting to encounter problems on MAC.
    Yet I have a quad-core Mac Pro.
Since today, my sound cuts out, and I can't determine the cause.
Yet, it has been a year without any issues......

      I'm reposting, actually no problem.
I just had too many devices connected via FireWire, webcam, mixing desk, and MOTU audio interface.
I turned off the webcam and since then no more issues!

Good evening, everyone, this might not be the right post but...
I just bought an iMac and a MOTU UltraLite. Connected with a 9-6 pin FireWire cable.
I inserted the installation CD, restarted the Mac.
After reboot, I turned on my MOTU.
Message on the card "CPU not VALID"
And then it gets stuck on a "firmware upgrade" screen.

I downloaded the latest firmware from the MOTU website:
I followed the instructions, but after 2 minutes of upgrade or when the MOTU indicates "firmware...comparing" and then an error message on the Mac says that the installation could not be completed...

Any idea where this might be coming from?
    Thanks in advance

    I'm well-versed in PCs but I'm a beginner on Mac :-)

      an iMac what?
iMac is vague, it has existed since 1998, and we don't know anything about your system.
If you have Snow, or Leopard, etc...
      :)

Okay, I have the same problem but it comes from the wifi as Anonyme said.......
If it is disconnected, everything is perfect, but what is annoying is that you can't listen to music while browsing the web, watch a video on YouTube while it's loading, or stream mp3s on SoundCloud or other stores..... In fact, at my place, the problem is that this cracking occurs while I am downloading a page or video.... Does anyone have a solution?

    Hello everyone,
I personally work on a Macbook and recently bought a sound card (miditech audiolink II) and a microphone (T bone SC400). When I listen to any type of sound coming from the computer and going through the sound card, I hear a beep in my headphones every 10/15 seconds, which prevents me from working and I would like your help to solve this problem as quickly as possible!!!

    Thank you all.
