Hello!!

I bought a 512MB Zicplay MP3 player and the problem is that for XP, you normally don't need a driver, the computer should do it automatically, but my computer tells me that the installation has failed. Then it tells me to go online but the page is no longer valid.

It's easy, just go to the ZICPLAY support page

and download the appropriate driver, unzip it, double-click on setup.exe, it installs on the PC and then in My Computer, you see the removable disk, that's the MP3 player
That's it, it's done and it works!!!

Stop being stupid, guys! You all ask the same question without even answering each other. I bought 3! One for my daughter, one for my wife, one for me, from different places!! A friend bought one too, I use Mac OS X Panther and Tiger, Windows "any platform" and I have no issues, I would even say that these ZicPlay are perfect. I even have a Zicplay phone for the computer and I'm not complaining about that either!!!

Your product comes with a manual! You should read it sometimes!!!!!!!

Everything works for me even without drivers and I make the most of them without any problems.....

PS: the funny guy up there with his iBook, did you need to do copy-pasting like that? Is it to annoy the readers or what????????
On another note, he needs to learn how to use an iBook. "A Zicplay is 100% operational on a MAC, just like everything else......

Your issue is indeed a formatting problem, I think. So try this: - connect your Zic via USB, go to "My Computer" and right-click on the drive letter of your MP3 Zic; click on "Format," choose FAT (not FAT 32 or NTFS), then OK; your Zic will format correctly. A tip, to load MP3 onto your Zic use Windows Media Player for synchronization, it works like a charm!!!!!! and enjoy the music.

Hi everyone! I also have a Zicplay 512MB with FM and my XP computer didn't recognize it, I couldn't access my files, the key read my music, anyway, it was a mess! The software was installed but it was missing a file AfduUD so it was impossible to reinstall and everything! I struggled and finally found the solution: * if it's a firmware problem, you can go to the official site to download it www.zicplay.com/ then you decompress it and install it (be careful it's in RAR format so decompressing it is a hassle, so have someone who has the software do it since it's paid, then ask them to compress it in zip and send it back by email) *otherwise (and that was my case) you have to go to the control panel, "add/remove programs", choose MP3 PLAYER UTILITIES then "modify/remove" and "repair". The computer reinstalls the software by itself then you have to restart the computer. Finally, upon reboot, the screen displays that there's a problem with FAT32 and you have to let it repair itself. When we come back in Windows, the device is recognized, and all that's left is to go to my computer, right-click on "generic volume" and finally "format", choose FAT format and then it will erase everything on the key but it will work like new! All that's left is to re-download all your music and that's it! I hope I was able to help someone! Good luck!

TROJAN ALERT on ZICPLAY!!!  I bought a Zicplay Minikey (1GB) on 12/01/2006 at a big retail store (normally reliable given the name of the brand).  I, like everyone else, had a few issues loading music onto my key; PARTICULARLY the need for an internet connection, and for good reason...  I want to clarify that I used another PC, freshly updated for antivirus (avast! family edition v4.7) and the firewall, equipped with an internet connection, in order to perform ALL INSTALLATIONS (for a USB key, this is not very common with plug'n'play, rest assured I did not question this more than you would at the time) and finally be able to enjoy my product.  Surprise (and a big one, PLEASE) !!!!! The antivirus went off: TROJAN ALERT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is the profile of the little critter found during installation:  Target file: C:\program files\MP3 player utilities 3.68\deldrv.exe Malware name: Win32: trojan-gen.{VC} Type of software: Virus / Worm Virus definitions version (avast!): 0666-1, 12/31/2006  After searching, the software is only detected by the antivirus during installation from the CD-ROM that comes in the box with the key; IT IS NOT NECESSARY FOR THE KEY TO BE CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER DURING THE OPERATION, ANY MORE THAN INTERNET, put differently: this means that the critter is hiding somewhere on the CD-ROM. Where? I don’t know, the scan of my PC found nothing (so it's not on my PC) and scanning the key and the CD-ROM is impossible.  So presumably, it’s in the product (sneaky !!!!) Yes indeed! You understood correctly! We have all unknowingly PURCHASED A TROJAN HORSE !!!!!  Sorry for the novel, but after this discovery, I thought a minimum of information should be shared on the issue, especially after stumbling upon your FAQ forum by chance.

Hi, Here’s what I found and don’t ask me why, I have no idea, this stupid thing, I found a stupid solution for it.  I have a laptop with Win XP Pro and it didn’t recognize the MP3.  If I connect it directly via USB, it doesn’t recognize it, but if I connect it with the USB cable, it recognizes it.  But contrary to the manual, I had to go into the menu “SYS, then Online device, then instead of Madie device as requested, I selected USB.”  So in short, make sure it’s in USB mode, then connect it with your cable, it will turn on and open, several files will appear that you actually can’t read, and then do copy and paste of your MP3s and that's it. Well, I am fully reassured to see that I am far from being the only one having troubles with my Zicplay minikey 512 MB. At first, there were no issues: I could listen to all my songs. Then a problem occurred: the "format error" that several of you have experienced. So, while researching, I came across this forum and there I found what I thought was the solution, which was to format my player and put my songs on it through synchronization with Windows Media Player. Great! It works! But today I turned it on and got a nasty surprise: "disk error." There's no way to listen to anything when everything was fine yesterday. I also forgot to mention that the backlighting no longer works. I have Windows XP, and my PC always recognizes the player. Also, why does my MP3 player always switch back to English? RRRRRRRR. I'm fed up. I’m looking for a solution. If I find one, I'll let you know.

Hello, after going through the exhaustive list of your issues, it seems to me that you have all made the same mistakes: - if your reader is not recognized by XP, it means you do not have the correct drivers for USB 2.0. - if it is recognized and cannot be read, it is either NOT formatted or MAL formatted: it must be formatted in FAT and not FAT32, NTFS, etc... This is essential! - you must use one of the many software available either on the CD or online to load your reader because if you simply copy, you risk ending up with interleaved files that will hinder the smooth management of the tracks.  There you go...

I'm totally in agreement with you mine is buggy too, it's a Zicplay 1 GB, it shows a format error too in WMA even though it clearly states "MP3 WMA"! The Chinese are nice but they make CRAP (sorry if a Chinese person reads this message) I bought it at FNAC in Brest, I thought it would work, FNAC is usually awesome but NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a MAC and I can't delete songs: they all just get stuck in one corner at the beginning of the disk of the MP3, for example, if I delete 5, those 5 will be at the beginning, it will show me only 5! Well, you should go back to FNAC and have them exchange it. That's what I did with my Zicplay because I couldn't turn up the volume on mine. I had it changed, and there you go. So I advise you to return it and tell them that your MP4 has a problem; they will check it to see the defect in the product and will exchange it for you. I hope this solves your problem. See you!

All ZicPlay products come with a driver for Win98, so in case of trouble here is a solution: under XP select the Win98 driver executable (setup) "right click" properties - compatibility set to win98. Once the executable is run, plug in your USB key, and everything works, meaning it appears in the explorer. Perform a reformat of the key and then unplug it. Restart the computer. The key is now operational.
