Small issue with ACDsee

Hello,
I am using ACDSee 4.0 and I had no problems with it until one day, out of the blue (to my knowledge), a bug appeared. When I start the ACDSee explorer, the software opens and after a second or two it closes; only an icon remains in the toolbar, but I don't have time to click on it before it disappears too. I can still view the photos using the viewer, which works fine. I don't know what to do, can you please help me?

Try IrfanView which is the freeware equivalent.

Good evening
"IrfanView, which is the equivalent in freeware"
not quite, the features may be similar,
but definitely not equivalent!
"When I start the ACDSee explorer"
I don’t quite understand the difference with the viewer,
because using this software, version 4.01, the viewer is for me,
integrated into the explorer.
maybe you could clarify this issue.
if you can't find the correct functioning,
it might just require reinstalling the software.

The first thing I tried was, of course, to reinstall it, but it doesn't work either. When I double-click on a photo in the explorer, the photo appears larger; it's the viewer, and there's a browse button to return to the explorer.
Good evening
I do understand your problem better indeed.
If you double-click on your photo in full screen,
instead of using the browse button,
don't you return to ACDSee?

Not when I click on the ACDSee icon to launch the software, it opens and then immediately closes, but if I click on a photo without going through the explorer, I can view my photo normally. However, if I want to return to the explorer, it closes.
You can switch to version 7 for now.

Good evening
version 7 is useless for repairs and it is paid!
manifestly there is a compatibility issue
between "explorer" and "acdsee"
I am trying to see where the problem lies
but I have not discovered it yet...

Thank you, Zen, it's nice of you to help me. I hope you will find something too. I'm looking on my side, but my searches are not fruitful.
I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. It's really important to talk to someone who can help you.
Hello
Sorry for the delay, which is always too long when you’re waiting!
In the end, I think the ACDSee photo database must have a problem.
Also, you should choose:
tools menu
then options
then the miscellaneous tab
then image bank and change the affected file.
Hoping I saw it correctly...
On another note, you can search in Explorer
for all "thumbs" files and delete them.
Stay calm.

gbinforme thank you for your help but I haven't made any progress since you told me to replace the file in the image bank. I'm willing to do it, but what should I put in place since the only compatible file on my hard drive is the one I need to change? Then I looked for the thumbs files and I couldn't find any related to ACDSee; where are they?
Hello
after the choices I described to you,
tools menu
then options
then miscellaneous tab
then image bank and change the relevant file,
you just need to click on the icon,
and give it a different name.
this file is only used to save thumbnails
and it can be quite annoying in some cases
because when you edit an image it continues
to show you the original version as a thumbnail.
