Excel - 2 curves (different X axis data) Solved

Question

Hello,  I am looking to create an Excel table with 2 curves representing the evolution over time (X-axis) of 2 prices (the two Y-axes). However, my price data (actual price and average price) is in two different tables, and the dates corresponding to these prices are not always the same (even though these dates are within the same period, I can have an actual price from 01/01/2009 and an average price from 03/01/2009 only).  I initially thought of making a chart with two data series for the Y-axis, for each of my prices, and two X-axes for my two series of dates, but without success ;(  I need some help!! Excel graph only uses one x-axis [the left column by default], and you only have the option to use a second one to modify the scale. But all you need to do is combine your two x columns into one, and then sort if necessary...

Hello and welcome.  Why not merge your 2 tables into one, with all the used dates in the first column, the actual prices in the second column, and the average prices in the third column, leaving the cells not relevant to the date in the first column empty? -- Retirement is great! I actually tried this method,  Grouping my X columns into one, then 2 Y columns (leaving gaps) But my curves are not continuous (at each "gap", the curve disappears until the next data point) so it’s not very suitable.  So I'm turning to a scatter plot model, or replacing the missing values in my Y columns with the last data point. But well, it's just a workaround ^^  If you have another solution, I’m all ears, anyway thanks for your advice!

You do &#9658; a CONTINUOUS part of x in relation to y1 &#9658; a CONTINUOUS part of x in relation to y2 and it should work without any problem…

Hello, zepefionno.  I want to point out that the suggestions we are giving you are approximate, since you still haven't indicated which version of Excel you are using... You also haven't thought about showing us your file... (https://www.cjoint.com/ allows you to create the link, which you will PASTE into your message).  So, we're doing the best we can! Hello everyone,  @ Raymond: I'm working on Excel 2003 unfortunately! I didn't know about cjoint, indeed it's quite practical, I’ll keep it in mind for next time,  As for the continuous part, I did it this way: I changed the model, preferring to make a graph with X=time, Y1=average price curve, Y2=a bar chart (very thin bars) that shows if the price is below or above the Y1 curve at specific points.  The result is satisfactory!  I want to thank you for your help with my issue! The ccm community is very welcoming!  See you soon,  Zépé
