Displaying X and Y Axes in Excel

My display settings in Excel 2013 changed unintentionally. Vertically, I still have a ruler with a series of numbers, but horizontally, I no longer have a series of letters—just another series of numbers.
When I click on a formula, I can no longer see the formula with the correct cell references from which it originates.

Uncheck the box in front of L1C1 reference style
