Hello everyone,
I have a problem with Dragon Naturally Speaking 10, it came out of the box and doesn't want to work.
I installed it and saw this message:
A serious error occurred during the initialization of the NaturallySpeaking voice engine. Please try reinstalling to fix this problem.
So I wanted to reinstall it, but I was told it was already in use and that I couldn't do two actions at the same time. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but the same problem occurred. I uninstalled, cleaned my computer, reformatted, and reinstalled but still got the same message. I did all the updates on my computer from A to Z and reinstalled it, but it still doesn't work, I still get the same message...
Help, I can't take it anymore, a "great" software that doesn't work and costs €99 is really frustrating.
Thank you very much if you could help me that would be a pleasure...
Good evening to all
Zazou

Hi,
Try to install it on another PC, it will already narrow down the issue. It would be a shame not to find it given the price of this software ;).
When you reinstall it and it says that it's already in use, open the Task Manager and check in the processes tab if there's any dragnat.exe or something like that representing it. If so, end the process and try again.
The rest, I'm not a pro at all, I can't help you more, sorry :S -
I have exactly the same problem as Zazou. I have been struggling to find the solution for a few days now but nothing yet.
I installed it on another PC and it works correctly.
When the message says it is already in use, during a reinstallation or even when trying to restart the computer, you need to open the task manager, and in the processes tab, under the image name column, you should click on the NATSPEAK.EXE file and then end the process.
To return to the issue
"a serious error occurred while initializing the voice engine of naturallyspeaking. Please try reinstalling to fix this problem"
if anyone has a solution, I would be grateful. If I find it, I will make sure to share it on the forum.
Thank you.-
I found only one solution that I haven't implemented yet. I'll let you know the result on Monday, but we assume that it's another software causing the bugs, so we will store all the data like documents, photos, music, and so on, on an external hard drive.
Then, we'll format the computer and reinstall Dragon and the other software one by one to see which one is causing the bugs...
Then we'll restore the data. I really hope this works because we've tried everything and don't see any other solution.
Good luck!

So for my part, problem solved, my computer is dead.
So formatting doesn't change anything according to the repair service; it would be the processor that doesn't meet the conditions or the motherboard. Anyway, they asked to download a program, and this program finished... my processor is dead and it has taken my motherboard with it... anyway, changing the processor or the motherboard costs around €200 for new ones, well, that's what it costs for mine, so... it's your choice! I won't give you a solution; I haven't found one and it's not for lack of trying...
sorry-
Sorry for your computer.
Thank you for your help. I'm still looking on my side but still nothing.
It might be a hardware issue, but it's still surprising since the software installs correctly. Normally it checks the system configuration, and if it's not suitable, it doesn't install the software.
Thanks again.

A priori, nothing to do, as it means that your processor does not support SSE2:

same!!!
except that for me before installing it was a mess with this visual c++ runtime for dragon naturally speaking well
I managed to install it then I installed dragon and there the same serious error vocal engine
but what is surprising is that I have almost the same configuration on 2 PCs and on one it works but not on the other
and the processor on the one where it works is even less powerful than on the one where it doesn't work!!
1.7ghz on the one where it works
1.8ghz on the one where it doesn't work!
We are all waiting for your responses.

Hello,
I had the same problem. To resolve it, I reinstalled vcruntime from the Dragon CD.
I can access Dragon normally again. I wrote this response using Dragon.
Hope it works for you. -
same problem!!!!
if you have the solution,
the vcruptime doesn't help at all.
HELP

We get our answer when we really want it. -
Hello! I tried something that worked: 1) Launch the program 2) Click on "NaturallySpeaking" in the Dragon voice bar 3) Click on "manage users" 4) Select your user profile 5) Click on "Advanced" 6) Then on "Restore" 7) Then load your restored profile and you will be able to dictate again. However, it seems that it no longer wants to save the user files for the next times...

Dragon is incompatible with Quick Media Converter
I'm getting f.... at 100 cents an hour.
I have no solution. I'm ditching both and looking towards other software.
Good luck
