Hello everyone,
I bought a Hercules XPS 2.160 speaker kit yesterday. I followed all the instructions in the user and installation manual very carefully, but right after the setup, a problem occurred... Indeed, the sound coming from the satellite speakers is perfect. But to my greatest disappointment, the subwoofer does not work. I've already browsed numerous forums but found nothing. At first, I connected it to my computer: Nothing. To the DVD player? Nothing either. I even tried pressing my ear against the subwoofer, I hear a buzzing, so I think it is still powered. Is there a specific order of connections? I should specify that the sound goes from the computer's Jack plug to the subwoofer and then from the subwoofer to the speakers.
Could it just be that the product is defective? I don't know. For your information, I bought it at the Fnac in Nancy and it cost me 60.40€. If you have any ideas, they would be welcome.

Thank you very much for your help.
I have already tried to adjust the bass behind the subwoofer, it doesn't change anything, not even the intensity of the humming.
For the supplied connection cables, I have:
- An RCA connector (to connect the subwoofer to the left speaker).
- A J9 connector (to connect the subwoofer to the right speaker).
- An RCA/jack connector (red and white plugs to connect the subwoofer to the computer).
- Adapter connectors:
* Male RCA/Female jack.
* Female RCA/Female jack. -
Yo, there are many solutions to your problem.
Normally you should have a setting behind your subwoofer that allows you to increase or decrease the bass level.
Maybe your 2.1 should be plugged into a special output on your sound card. Now that they make 5.1 cards, there might be an output for the sub and an output for the sats. What connections are provided with your 2.1 setup, please? -
Good evening Skatekill,
I have the same problem as you.
What was the solution in the end?
Thank you in advance.

I have the same problem and I haven't found a solution either; if someone could provide a solution.
Otherwise, I'll just take it to get fixed... it might be a manufacturing issue.-
no no it's not broken
I've tried several things: disable/enable, uninstall/install
but nothing
I was here: https://www.driverscloud.com/
and I searched for the right software/codec for my sound card
there you go, it's working perfectly
Later!

The problem is that I'm on a Mac (MacBook Pro bought at the end of 2009), my sound card is integrated and all the detection software is for PC, and I can't find any software to update it...
So I'm still stuck...
Basically, my problem is that the sound only comes out of the right speaker.
It's supposed to be compatible with Mac...
Anyway, I don't know what to do anymore. -
My problem is solved; it was indeed a technical issue. Some solder joints came undone inside...
