Hello, I have Saints Row 2 on PC but it crashes at startup as soon as it reaches "powered by gamespy", the screen goes black and I return to Windows. I have placed the folders I need in Saints Row 2. Help please, thank you.

It's simple to start the game: go to c/programs/saints row 2/directx and run the file directx.exe. I think that's the one, but I'm not sure; it’s the only one with a different icon.

I found the solution, actually you need to have the very latest graphics and sound drivers for it to work. Go to touslesdrivers.com, you'll find what you need there.

I have a huge crash with the oppressor mission in Saints Row 2. My screen turns black and I have to turn it off and turn it back on, otherwise nothing works. As for my computer, I bought it 2 weeks ago, so the problem isn't with the graphics card or the sound card.

Hi,

For the startup problem, I had "SR2_pc.exe has stopped working." I looked for the problem and couldn't find it; even on the forums, no one has resolved this issue. I think it's either a driver problem or a bad configuration, but I noticed that when we remove the videos from the game in the video folder, the game works. However, after loading to start a new game, the error message appears again!

If anyone has the solution, please help me!

Hello, I installed Saints Row 2 on my new Windows Vista Home Edition computer and I installed Saints Row 2 with Steam as well. At the moment the game starts, I feel like it’s going to start but the screen goes black and it sends me back to the desktop with an error code like: sr_2 has stopped working... Basically, I have the same problem as you. A friend just told me that the problem might come from the game because it’s too recent, he told me that maybe Saints Row 2 is an extension (we need to have Saints Row 1 on the computer). I don’t know if you have Saints Row 1 but try to buy it maybe it will work.

If there are people who haven't bought Saints Row 2 yet and are about to, I advise them to buy the Saints Row pack (Saints Row 1 and 2 in one box).

Info: Saints Row 3 is going to be released, maybe you need to have all three Saints Rows for it to work :)

A weird extension game that! A friend told me that it worked for him too when he installed the Saints Row 1 pack. In any case, I changed my graphics card; I put in a Geforce 9800 GT Asus 1GB and now it's working perfectly!

If I had known, I wouldn't have bought a new graphics card and would have just bought Saints Row 1 :-S.
