Verbatim Multimedia DD Opening

Hello,

I just bought a Verbatim Mediastation multimedia external hard drive, but I can't get it to work on my Mac or on my Windows XP. The compatibility is fine.

The problem lies in starting it up: I plug in the power cord and the USB cord = the hard drive lights up but the power button is blinking. There’s no way to work on it because nothing appears on the desktop; it doesn’t seem to be recognized. When I disconnect the USB cable to plug in a network cable, the power button stays blue.

Basically, it turns on but nothing opens. I tried with another USB cable: same result. I rebooted my PC but nothing changes. I don’t know what else to do (even the Verbatim support has not much!!).

    you might need USB 2 ports that you don't have

      On my MacBook, the ports are indeed USB 2

      is it possible to check in the BIOS if it is recognized?

    Hello Gregory,

    I’m in exactly the same situation as you, that is, the POWER button is flashing blue.

    However, during the first few uses, I was able to connect my hard drive to my PC and my TV, and I saved files on it that I can no longer access now.

    Have you managed to solve this problem?

      Hello everyone

      I have exactly the same problem with the Verbatim MediaStation external hard drive and my Macbook. The first time everything was fine, and since yesterday I can't access it anymore because it no longer appears on the desktop and the Power LED is blinking blue.
      If anyone has the same problem and has resolved it, thank you for your help.

      Personally, I have a Verbatim external hard drive that I've had for less than a year and I've had no problems. When it was working, the LED was flashing, and now it is no longer detected and the light is no longer flashing! I don't understand, I've tried everything and I no longer have access to it!

    I also have the same issue with a 500 GB multimedia Verbatim. I can read the content of my DDM on the TV but I can't access the content on my PC; I am using Windows Vista.
    During the first uses, everything went smoothly, but for a few months now, I haven't been able to access my DDM and it even locks my PC applications.
    Can someone please help me?
