Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to install VLC on an external multimedia hard drive (Model: QP3DX/KM 400Go), as I cannot find any firmware updates on the manufacturer's website.
Thank you for your response, and if possible, please detail it (for novices like me)

It's not possible
It's software for Windows or Mac systems maybe ... but not for external drives without an OS ...

Buy on eBay a mini PC 2GHz and mini 1GB of RAM for around 200 euros
or if you want to watch HD movies, a mini 3GHz and 2GB of RAM for around 300 euros
and change the video card with an HDMI output in PCIe for around 100 and also a good sound card for an additional 100 euros
then install Ubuntu with VLC for Linux (plus you'll be able to go online)
and "THERE" you'll have a REAL multimedia hard drive with the hard drive you want and you'll be able to play ALL the codecs
so for 500 euros you have something good, even very good
A+

And I don't know how to install it directly on my multimedia hard drive so that I can watch my videos on my TV, to avoid any unrecognized codec issues.
