hi,
open msn
click on tools/options/connection
uncheck run messenger automatically at Windows startup
restart the PC and let us know -
ok !
if I understand correctly you have the msn page at startup on your PC and not google or other browsers as usual.
Is that right?
If yes, here is a problem similar to yours on this link. Follow the instructions in the green message. :

Did you uninstall and reinstall MSN?
maybe the installation didn’t go well! -
Hello, so yesterday I uninstalled MSN and I couldn't reinstall it, so I tried everything. I even wanted to install an older version of Windows Messenger I think, but since it was in the Windows components and it still didn’t work, I wanted to remove it and I did some mistakes in those Windows components, so I did a system restore and Windows Live came back with the problem of the page that appears before it’s asked.

Hello, go to the page you want to open at startup and click on Tools > Internet Options, type the address in the Home page box > OK
--
the word "sms" writing is unbearable!!! -
Hello
Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services - Right-click the line corresponding to MSN then Properties - then in Startup type, select Disabled -
Hello open Windows Live Messenger Tools... General... connection option, uncheck "launch WL Messenger at startup" (for me it worked)
-
Hello
you can change it in the registry
type REGEDIT in Run
and then go there
HKEY_local_machine > Software > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > Main. Click on Main in the left pane and, in the right pane, right-click on Start Page. Choose Modify: delete the default startup page URL and enter the one you want to appear.-
Before doing that, I want to tell you that I don’t want anything else in place, when I close this page I still have my desktop
(this Windows Live Messenger page is the one where you enter your Hotmail address and password to connect with the two little figures spinning and stopping as soon as there is a connection)
so should I therefore do what you tell me, because I still want to be able to go on Windows Live Messenger when I want to

Actually I think there’s a misunderstanding of my question. When I turn on my XP computer, my screen shows the various users of the house, I enter my password to go to my session, and that’s when the blue Windows Live Messenger home screen appears inviting me to click to sign in. That’s what annoys me; I don’t want it to display. Thank you anyway for your responses.

Normally I would have my desktop and my icons, that's all. Why do I have the Windows Live Messenger page with my MSN email and password and "sign in" (which I have to click if I want to go there)?
-
If your icons have disappeared, and your desktop doesn’t look normal, I’m not a pro, but it’s possible that you have a virus.
To be sure, I suggest posting a new message in the virus/security forum.
If you do, it would be nice to keep us updated.
See you later -

The problem is that I’ve had this issue for a long time but I wanted to solve other ones before this one, and since the system restore doesn’t offer any date before December, I think this problem is from before.
-
This option is unchecked and it still does the same, but just below, in a highlighted sub-section, the option "open the main Messenger window at startup" is checked and therefore cannot be unchecked.

on another site they solved the problem for me
thanks anyway -
