Hello, I have a problem with my Windows XP: it turns out that I cannot start it without pressing the F1 key and I find this annoying because I have to do it every time. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? Thank you for your prompt responses.

You don't have any antivirus installed on your machine....

> Try installing Antivir: open this link, read the tutorial, download Antivir and install it
- You can also download Antivir HERE.
- Run Antivir, perform updates, connect all your storage devices to the PC, then run a scan (if any viruses are found, quarantine them. If you can't quarantine them, then delete them).
- At the end of the scan click on 'report', save this report to the desktop (file => save as), then copy/paste this report into your next message.

no panic. You needed an antivirus.

I'm questioning more about a file,

> Launch MalwareByte's Anti-Malware,
- Click on "Run a full scan" then "Scan" and select all your hard drives => the scan begins... wait...

- after deleting the infections: a report will be generated: save it and post it on the forum.

> Launch Ccleaner,
- Choose the "Options" tab then click on "Advanced" and uncheck the box "Delete only files in the Windows temp folder older than 48 hours" (everything should be deleted).
- In the "Cleaner" tab click on "Analyze".
- Once the analysis is completed, click on "Run Cleaner".
- In the "Registry" tab => Search for errors => Repair selected errors => save a backup => correct all selected errors => ok => close.
NB: If Ccleaner offers to save a backup, respond yes and save it to 'Desktop'
Repeat until it finds nothing (this usually varies between 1 and 4 times).

> Restart your PC in normal mode

> Relaunch Hijackthis:

you may need to display your hidden system files,

in Explorer, click on Tools at the top, then Folder Options, then View,
then check
show hidden system files
show hidden files and folders

go to C:\boot.ini
and do as explained in number 8

post it, just don't change anything before we see what's inside.

If that's the case, it comes from the BIOS, following a hardware change or a CMOS reset.
