Hello everyone,

I would like to know how and if it is possible to remove accents from a Word or Notepad text (whichever you prefer) without having to do it manually. I have already looked at several sites but have never found a satisfactory solution.
Best regards

    Hello,

Find / Replace? It needs to be done for each accent but it takes two minutes

    Best regards.

    Hello,
You mention... "...if it's possible to remove the accents from a Word or Notepad text (whichever you prefer) without doing it manually..."
And for what reason(s) do you want to remove them?

Otherwise, by changing the language of writing (English for example)

    Hello.

It's normal that you can't find anything on any site: you are the first and the only one wanting to do something like that!
Which accents are you talking about? You want to write
"ou vas-tu ? je vais a la maison pour ma fete" instead of
"où vas-tu ? je vais a la maison pour ma fête"?
The result will really be very ugly...

      Hello Raymond.
"where are you going? I'm going home for my party". There is a missing accent on the "a" in "à la maison"
The meaning of the sentence can also change.
It seems that this method (of omitting accents) is applied in SMS language, not very classy either and can be difficult to understand.

      Hello,

You are worried about the why without providing solutions! Personally, I use software that does not support accents, and I can understand the need to remove them in certain cases for compatibility reasons.

      Best regards.

Sorry, I don't understand why someone would want to remove essential accents from words. I know that the French language is complex, but if we start writing in an approximate language without accents, we might as well keep the door open to anything and everything.

      Hello,
It's somewhat of a habit on this forum to answer a question with a solution that has nothing to do with the request :-/

The simplest solution is indeed yours: Find ... /Replace with ... in any text editor or word processor.
Unless you're writing a program that takes all possible cases into account, but that's longer to write than using Find/Replace.

    Hello,

We assume this is not a literary text!
    Here's a Word solution:
    - Uncheck the "Accented Capital Letters in French" option
    - Change everything to uppercase (Shift+F3) => all accents disappear
    - Change everything back to lowercase (or lowercase and uppercase at the beginning of sentences) (Shift+F3).

      Hi

In this case, the simplest solution is to Find\tReplace ç with c and then Ç with C. Nothing simpler. See you later!
