No, I don’t have a Windows firewall, I use Avast as an antivirus.

:-D, see if there is an option that could block you on Avast (I don't know much about Avast, but we'll try^^)

I even disabled Avast to make sure it wasn't that, and it still doesn't work any better.
I think it's more likely a problem with the D-Link DI-524 router, but I'm not quite sure what it is.

hum, if you're using the right cables and you think you've configured everything correctly... :-/ the weirdest thing is that you can ping... uh... this story is bothering me!

I encountered the issue and apparently it comes from the Winsock of Windows XP which is malfunctioning.
To resolve the problem you have:
- restore to a date prior to the malfunction.
- and for those who have disabled automatic restoration, you need to download "WinsockxpFix" from https://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html, run the software, and follow the procedure.

Hello, I have a similar problem with a workstation in a corporate network!!!

I have around twenty workstations and everything works perfectly

except for this one that cannot access the internet despite the ping being fine

config: XP, connected via Ethernet cable, automatic and correct IP address!!!

I used winsockxpfix and the problem was solved until it returned 5 minutes later

I was able to browse the internet freely after restarting but as soon as I closed that internet window and reopened another one

I could no longer access the internet!!!!

I managed to get everything back in order with the command: netsh winsock reset followed by a reboot

Thank you for the solutions provided. I was able to connect using winsockxpfix.exe. The problem in my case was due to viruses that infected the winsock file.
