Touchpad locked computer Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,

I’m not sure if I’m in the right place to ask my question, but here’s my problem: I have an Asus laptop (purchased about two months ago), and the touchpad is no longer responding. I read on forums that I should press FN F9 or FN F7, and I’ve tried... It doesn’t work.
Can you please help me!

It worked for me: FN + F9
Just look at the top (where the F1 F2 keys are..) and there is a key that has something that looks like a numeric keypad crossed out. You do FN + this key and it works again :)

Normally, you hold Fn and then F6 or a key that looks like that   And that should work.

If it doesn't work by pressing Fn+F6 up to Fn+F9, try the "basic" way, I would say:

Press the Windows button on your keyboard.
Type Mouse in the list, normally you'll have a line "Mouse" in the "Control Panel" category. Move with the arrows until you get to it and press enter.
Press tab (I had to press it 4 times) until you see the first tab "Buttons" outlined, then with the arrows, move to "Device Settings".
Then press Tab until the Enable button and press Space. Then with Tab navigate to the OK button and validate with Enter!

There are possibilities:
- Either the keypad is disabled (you just need to press Fn + Num Lock) to reactivate it, but in that case there is no beep when you press the Num Lock key
- Or you have checked the option "move the mouse with the numeric keypad" in the mouse settings, which you can find by typing "mouse" in the search bar of the Windows 8 home screen. And in that case, there is indeed a beep.

I found a solution. I plugged in an external mouse and then went to settings > personalization > theme > mouse pointer settings > Elan > enable! It works for me!

I've had this issue (touchpad disabled) several times with my Asus. Each time it was after a Windows update (minor or major, like from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10). And every time the same solution has worked, which is to reinstall the touchpad driver found in C:/eSupport/eDriver/Software/Touchpad. Double click on the setup file and restart your PC when the installer prompts you to. After restarting, the touchpad works again.
It's simple, quick, and effective.

My touchpad was not working with FN + F9
I have a smartpad (two separate buttons on the touchpad)

1. Right-click on the downloaded ZIP file, then click Extract All Files. Double-click on the folder with the same name as the downloaded file.

2. Right-click on the setup.exe or install.exe file, then click Run as administrator. When prompted.

3. Click Yes or Allow to continue to start the installation routine.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

5. Restart the computer when the installation is complete.

For me it worked from that moment with FN + F9

For your information, the next recommendations:

My action was limited to integrating the two drivers and I was able to recover the FN + F9 function
