Hello,
I would like to know what the differences are between the PSP 2000 (Slim & Light) and the PSP 3000.

Thank you in advance

The PSP 3000 (Brite) is lighter, brighter, has a better quality screen, and has a built-in microphone.
The PSP 2000 (Slim & Lite) is light (a bit heavier than the 3000).
The PSP 1000 (Fat) is bulky ^^.

If the homebrew aspect interests you (we're not talking about running illegally downloaded games here, but about original applications developed by enthusiasts), only the PSP 1000 and 2000 can be unofficially updated. Sony condemns any attempt to hack their machine, and while homebrew isn't technically qualified theft, it still uses Sony's hardware for purposes that the manufacturer wouldn't have intended. This is detrimental to the community of free software developers who are fans of Sony's console.

In short, the 3000 is the best choice if you want to stay on the legal side of things (which is ultimately much more peaceful), and you benefit from a significantly better screen for recent games like the fantastic Crisis Core.
There is a false claim that old games (like classic PSOne titles) would be immediately ruined by this too-good quality screen, which would accentuate the coarse pixel display. So far, I have not felt this phenomenon, neither on Fade To Black nor on Street Fighter Alpha Dreams, which are both very old games from the PSOne.

Thank you, Synips, for all this information. I need to buy one for my son, and I didn't know much about the PSP. With your post, everything is clear now, and your advice is relevant. Thanks again.

Hello everyone
"Sony condemns any attempt to hack its machine" but Sir, my PSP in question no longer belongs to Sony, it belongs to me now, with the money I provided with my own hands, it's mine and the PSP I bought is mine, I do what I want with it, but if I happen to reproduce a dozen or even hundreds of cracked PSPs and sell them, I agree with Sony. But just for myself personally. ;-)
