I called the number and first 002 doesn't work, you need to dial 011 then 2... In my case, the guy is giving away a small camper for free. Except I have to pay $750 for the storage fees and then he'll deliver it to me.
My next comment may sound racist but I'm not. The person who answered had the accent of a black person and I assume I called Africa. The funniest thing is that he immediately started to explain to me why he wanted $750 before I even mentioned that I was calling about the camper.
After a little investigation: These guys are pros, they have a phone and an email address for each of their ongoing "operations." That's why he knew exactly what I was calling about.
Beware when it's too good to be true

Hello everyone! I'm in the same situation but not quite! I'm getting a 2C that's being given to me for good care! The phone number starts with 002... the guy just told me he was contacting a delivery person to deliver the vehicle to me. I don't have to pay anything, no deposit, nothing... he's just giving it to me for good care... should I be worried?
Hello, I saw your message, forget it, these are scams. They tell you no deposit, and if you reply to their email, they will say they are giving it to you but that they had to go to Africa for work and that there are fees to have it delivered. You will never see your money again and you will never see the car.
Hello, regarding the autoscoot story, they posted a little editorial to warn about this kind of email. Here’s what they say:
Warning
It is possible that some people (mainly English speakers but supposedly from English, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Ivorian nationalities, etc.) will contact you and offer to sell your vehicle under the following circumstances:
They will offer to send you a check that covers not only the amount of your vehicle for sale but also an additional amount (most often to cover shipping costs).
Once this check is received, the amount is supposedly credited to your account 2 days later, but your bank will not really know if the account is solvent until 15 days later. (A bank may accept the check initially and then reject it a few weeks later).
In the meantime, the interested party will ask you to refund the differential amount, most often via Western Union.
Once the amount is sent to the recipient (under a false identity), they will reach out a few days later via email to tell you that, for example, their company's headquarters burned down and they will interrupt the transaction.
We advise you to avoid any contact with such individuals and to ignore any such offers.
Be careful.

thank you all. I saw a Freelander from Range Rover on Le Bon Coin for €1200 (Argus €5600). Since I am looking for this vehicle, I responded to the ad that came from Aveyron. In return email, someone explained to me that it was the right price and that he had to sell it due to lack of money. This man gave me a surely fake name. He is a military man in the navy and abroad. The car is located in Marseille at a transporter who can deliver it to me tomorrow. To contact the owner: 002 29 66 04 96 46.
Of course, he has neither my name, nor my number, nor my address.

Hello everyone!! And especially THANK YOU!! Thanks to your discussion, I was able to avoid a scam about a guy who was offering me a Golf V 2.0 TDI for 1500 €. When I asked for his number, he sent me a number starting with 002... It seemed weird to me, so I looked it up online and came across your discussion!! I then researched how much the car really costs, and hold on, here’s a nice scam: I told him I found the same car on a real sales site, THE SAME MILEAGE (83,200 km, pretty impressive), the same characteristics, he had used the same photos as on the site (so much that I matched his photos with those from the site and guess what, there were the same shadows, the same radio frequency he was listening to, the same patterns on the dashboard screen, the same warning lights lit up...) IN SHORT, he went to the site and simply copied and pasted!! And after I sent him this email threatening that the scam was a crime punishable by imprisonment, I went to check his listing on the auction site AND SUDDENLY the item had just been removed!! He got scared... So please, do not trust numbers starting with 002... HUGE SCAM!!!!!
Good evening, I just read your discussion, and I almost got scammed, but not on a car site, on leboncoin.com; a guy was offering concert tickets for Lady Gaga for only 78 euros; he immediately replied that he would deliver the tickets to me asking for my address etc. He gave me his phone number starting with 002999... I called and I reached a guy with a very strange accent. I then read your discussion, and it helped me not to get scammed. Thank you.
Here is a striking example:
Good evening
As I told you, I have just received confirmation
of the delivery from the delivery person who will be ready to deliver
to your home this evening
As I mentioned, the delivery person is ready to
come and deliver to you on January 5, 2011, at 5 PM at the address provided along
with all the PS3 papers and other necessary documents
for the sale.
For payment, I do not accept checks because I have already been
taken advantage of once.
There was a malicious person who gave me a check for
€4500 a year ago. I sold him a Yamaha R1 motorcycle, and then I went to deposit the check at the bank where they told me the check was not a good one, it was a forged check, which is why I no longer want to accept
checks.
The delivery person also just told me that for his security, he prefers
not to take cash in hand, and I see that it's normal
because he needs proof that you gave the money to the delivery person
and since I will not be present, I need to be sure
that you have the money on you before giving the go-ahead to the delivery person.
So I will propose a payment method that reassures both of us.
You will prepare a receipt from the post office that you will exchange for the PS3
once the delivery person is at your place,
meaning before I give the go-ahead to the delivery person so that he can start
You will send a money order of €150 at the post office and keep the money order receipt with the password, a code that you will keep with you until the delivery person's arrival.
Because once you go to do the money order at the post office, you will have a form to fill out
where they will ask you to provide your details and also the details of the person
to whom you are sending the money order.
So once you finish filling out the information at the post office, you will have a printed receipt from the post office, and on this receipt, you will have the information you provided and also the password, the code chosen by the post office.
So you must communicate these codes to the person to whom you are sending the money order so that they can collect the money.
Thus, your guarantee is to keep this receipt from the post office securely on you and
keep the codes secret until the PS3 arrives at your place tonight at 5 PM.
After trying out and checking all the PS3 papers,
if the PS3 indeed matches what I told you, then you take out the post office receipt and
you will call me directly in front of the delivery person to confirm the arrival of the delivery person and the handover of the receipt and the code of the money order so that we can go to the post office with this receipt and the code to collect the money after returning the PS3.
In the contrary event or if there is a problem with the PS3 for any reason X, which is impossible,
you can still go to the post office with this receipt to recover your money without any issue and cancel the money order.
But I don't think you will be disappointed because the PS3 is just like in the picture,
no additional costs to anticipate.
For more information, please contact me on my phone 002 29 97 05 11 27.
So if you are okay with the payment, I will provide you with the full details for
the money order at the post office.
Thank you for your response.
Best regards.

I have an offer for a car on Le Bon Coin that will be delivered to me if I make a cash mandate keeping the codes
the name given is Louis Papin, 55 years old (I found that it was the name of a vicious French bishop, right?)
the person's number is
002 29 66 04 22 00
it's too good of an offer, a Clio with air conditioning maintained by Renault with all the invoices for 500 euros.

Hello,
I found a car on Le Bon Coin and I thought it was really interesting, a 306 for 1000 euros, a white one with all the receipts and delivered with no fees, it was in Marseille!
Too good to be true!
The advertiser responded by asking for my name, my address, my landline and mobile number!
The number I was supposed to call was 002 29 66 27 51 12, he claimed to be a soldier on leave for 6 months and called himself DUPONT. Be careful with the ads!

thank you for giving me information I might know what to do to stop this because it's stressful
I'd like to mention that the number I'm being asked to call for the purchase of a bike on Leboncoin starts with 0022966 and has 13 digits... is this a scam? Or where is my contact (in Africa) thank you
