"msvcrt.dll" error

Hello,
I have a problem that has been bothering me for a few days. An error message whose cause I don't know and I am all ears for your suggestions:
"The entry point of the procedure except handler4 common is not found in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll"
I am running XP SP3 with DirectX 10 XP and I downloaded msvcrt.dll and then copied it to c:\windows\system32 but the problem still persists.
I would really like to have your help.

    Hi,

    I had the same issue and the solution that worked for me is to delete the dwapi.dll file in C/Windows/System32.

      Hi, I had the same problem on my PC. I searched for "dwapi.dll" but couldn't find it; however, I found "dwmapi.dll." I deleted it, and since then, the problem has been resolved.

      ps; I've looked in my system32 and I can see the msvcrt dll
      I don't understand anything about it

      I had the same problem when launching Firefox and, like anthony57320, I deleted "dwmapi.dll" and everything is fine now! Thank you, gentlemen/ladies!

    Hi everyone, I see your explanation, but the only problem is that when I open an MSN conversation or the MSN .exe, it says "the entry point of the procedure except handler4 common is not found in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll". I've also done what you did, but I don't have .est or device.exe, none of that :s!! Help please

    This error appeared when I tried to use a software. In the installation directory of this software (program files), there were a few DLLs provided.
    Some of them in quite old versions. I renamed them one by one by adding .old at the end (one at a time) until the problem disappeared. The culprit in this case was OLEACC.dll. When I renamed it to OLEACC.dll.old, the software must have used another version in windows/system32.

    Same for me, when I turn on my PC it opens a window saying "The procedure entry point _except_handler_common could not be found in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll." Similarly, when I go on my MSN and watch videos on YouTube
    if anyone has a solution, thank you in advance.

    Vérifiez d'abord l'heure et la date, il se peut que le problème vienne de la pile du BIOS lorsqu'elle est déchargée.

      On Google, the majority of similar messages are more or less related to a well-defined program, but that's not my case or maybe it is! I don't know! It's written: Device.exe.

    Open the task manager
    Processes
    Check if everything is fine. Is it present?

    Is your PC running well?
    Type in the bottom left: msconfig
    You will validate
    Then go to startup / check if it appears
    If yes, uncheck it and restart

      Device.exe exists among the active processes, I clicked on terminate.
      As for msconfig\startup, device is linked to a program I downloaded from the internet: "Innovative"
      I unchecked the corresponding box.
      I believe the problem is solved, because if this message appears again, I will uninstall the offending program.

    just confirm at the next startup if it gets better

    revo uninstaller uninstalls well/free.

    run ccleaner after uninstallation
    then check your c:/program and delete the leftovers
