Overlay photo with transparency

Hello,
Here is my problem I would like to overlay 2 photos one on top of the other but the one on top with a bit of transparency so that we can see the image underneath, can you help me,

P.S. Is it possible with Gimp
Configuration: Mac OS X Safari 523.15

    Hello,

    what you want to do is possible with GIMP. You need to open one of the two images, then open the second one (it will automatically open on a new layer). Then you change the opacity to, for example, 50% of the second image layer (it's in the layersPalette at the bottom right).
    And normally, you should have the overlay of the two images.
