Redemption Error Restart IXUS 60

It must be opened to be cleaned. Has the device been on the beach?

I had the same issue with a Powershot SD600 after a trip to the beach (Lens error, restart). I took the camera apart and found sand grains between the electric motor and the zoom. After cleaning the sand grains (one by one with a cutter) from the gears, the camera works properly.

The operation still takes several hours with two small screwdrivers (flat and Phillips).

Hello everyone!! I had the same error message.. the device had fallen from 20cm high.. and the lens wouldn't retract anymore... I thought it was dead but when I opened it (easy operation: just remove 6 small screws) I took off the panels and I saw there were vacation memories ^^ some grains of sand on the walls of the panels and also near the lens, I cleaned it well with a brush and it still didn't work but by insisting and repeating the on/OFF maneuver the lens retracted and everything works fine now!! :-)) I think the little fall jammed a grain of sand that was already there and blocked the system!!

Canon ixus 850!! a superb device! I would have been really pissed to lose it!!!!

I had the "Lens Error" issue with my Ixus 850 IS. The lens was stuck out all the time, and when I turned it on, it didn't like it and showed the error, then turned off. I managed to fix it, but I can't guarantee the method:
1) With the camera off, press FN (in the center of the control wheel), THEN turn it on. The screen shows the time, scrolling, in nice cubes. By pressing the side buttons, the wallpaper changes color (did the programmers have fun making a secret thing?).
2) From there, press FN again: it unlocked the lens, and everything started working normally again.
