It's been over 40 years since a tune has been stuck in my head: "on St. Michael's Day or St. John's Day" and words like wheat, harvest.
Thanks to the internet and my persistent efforts, at the end of September 2008, I finally found my show and its theme song.
The following weekend, at a record fair near my home, I even managed to buy the record.
It's the show Sylvie des 3 Ormes, performed by Hervé Vilard. Go to the Jacques Datin site and you can even hear the beginning of the song.
Since the end of October, you may have found the answer to your question. I'm still responding because like you, I searched for many long years.

Hello, I remember this series very well, being from your father's generation as well. I am also looking for it; there was also at that time THE PRINCESS OF THE RAIL, THE 7 OF THE STAIRCASE 15, NOELLE IN THE FOUR WINDS. Good memories! Today on the net, there is EVERYTHING... EXCEPT WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR. They don't think about the generations of that time, even in films, we can't find anything from the 70s, all of our youth. I wish you good luck in your search. Sincerely, a nostalgic person from the 60s and 70s. I am 53, so you see, I was young at that time, but what good memories (ZORRO, THE COMPANIONS OF GU LAGARDERE, BELPHEGOR, VIDOCQ, THE GLOBE TROTTERS, etc....

      I don't remember the story of Sylvie from the three oaks, but I'm looking to see it again;
However, you who are from my generation, I am 51 years old, don't you remember "another series" called "Salle huit" in which there is a nurse (No, no, it's not "The Surgeon of Saint Chad," nor "Janique aimée." BUT I think these three series were instrumental in my choice of studies.
      Thank you for your help.

Hello "Yes", I remember perfectly the black and white series from 1966 "Les 7 de l'Escalier 15" with Jacques Balutin, a treat at that time when it aired daily. Why doesn't French TV currently rerun this incredibly funny series, wonderfully performed by a host of good actors? There is no trace of these episodes on the internet. I was very young back then, I'm 56 years old today! If anyone finds a trace, thank you for your help.

We will go to the city
      To see the people running
At the gates of the city
      They watch the fields

Like a green carpet on a white carpet

It is about the soap opera "Sylvie des trois ormes"
As for me, I am looking for the cassette, the video, the website where I could watch it again.

I'm looking for this series, can you help me? Just like I'm looking for the series "Salle huit," which you might remember? (It's not about the surgeon of Saint Chad, nor Janique Aimée)
Thank you for helping me in my search.

    Hello,

I am also looking for this series for my father because some scenes were filmed near his childhood village in Normandy.
    If anyone has found it?

    Best regards.

    Hello,
The title of the song is My Countryside

On a green carpet, on a white carpet

    Winter has fun, spring dances

On Saint Michael's Day or on Saint John's Day

    My countryside is beautiful

A new sun caresses the wheat

The harvest dances in the summer sky

In the distance, the herds roam free

    My countryside is beautiful

We will go to town to see the people running

At the edges of the city, the fields watch us

On a green carpet, on a white carpet

    Winter has fun, spring dances

On Palm Sunday to New Year's night

    My countryside is beautiful

We will go on vacation to Saint Germain des Prés

To take a cure of dancing, noise, and smoke

On a green carpet, on a white carpet

    Winter has fun, spring dances

When life is sweet, it lasts a long time

    My countryside is beautiful
