What to do if I only have the BIOS on my PC? Solved

Hello, I'm new here and I have a problem that I would call super serious, and honestly, whoever finds the solution will be a god in my eyes. I am part of a university in the Centre region and we were given laptops: LENOVO model R61i processor T2390 Memory: 2GB (SDRAM (synchronous dynamic RAM) double data rate (DDR)2) Hard drive: 120GB Video memory: 128MB Burner, webcam, wifi.... That's all I know about it, My problem is as follows: We had a multiboot installation already configured for Windows Vista and Ubuntu Genome, and we just had to follow the instructions for the first use: I choose Vista and enter my user (I don't take a password, I'm the only one using it), I go to choose my wallpaper and then black screen... for 30 seconds and then Vista starts up by itself and asks me for a user, I enter the one I chose, and then Vista tells me "incorrect," so I was in trouble but that's not all. I restart, I try Ubuntu, it works fine we were given two reinstallation CDs for Vista and Ubuntu and one CD for reinstallation of Windows Vista from the manufacturer, I try to use the first ones, nothing is recognized.. I insist about 20 times, still nothing, I try the manufacturer's reinstallation CD, still nothing, I try about ten times, and then the phrase I was waiting for appears "press any key to boot from CD or DVD" I press Enter, and it shows me "Windows is loading files..." I wait for it to finish and restart, I remove the CD and press F11 during the restart, and that's where the problems begin... the computer freezes and only shows a few phrases explaining that it is searching for my components (I think) PXE-M61: Media Test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent  and it gives me a list of the main components and shows me "device not found" on the right side of the same line: 1: USB FDD: device not found 2: ATAPI CDO: model HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N-..(not the complete end): No valid operating system 3: USB CD: Device not found 4: ATA HDD0: Model HITACHI HTS542512K9SA00-(S...: No valid operating system 5: PCI LAN: Model IBA GE Slot 00C8 v1245: No valid operating system 6: USB HDD: device not found 7: ATA HDD1: device not found  Excluded from boot order: ATA HDD2 and below ATAPI CD1  I managed to run a diagnostic on my hard drive, and it shows me "Pass: Controller diag" and "Pass: read verification and speed test"  and when I turn it off, it makes a short beep.  I tried downloading Ubuntu which I put on a CD to install, but it doesn't work, I am a beginner, and I don't know what I can do, I've heard of flashing the BIOS, but I don't know how to do that either. So here I need your help to figure out what my problem is and what my possible solutions are (I would really like to install Linux which I find great) but if it works for Windows that's fine too. Well, if you want to install Windows on it, start by setting the boot order of your DVD drive as the first and not your hard drive, then the installation will be guided. If you want to install Linux, it's the same. Important: the order of OS installation: WINDOWS THEN LINUX!!!!!!! (it's silly a flag with 4 colors - blue-yellow-green-red LOL) -- It's by making mistakes that we learn in life... if only we don't repeat them... (believe my experience)

Okay, thanks, I'm going to try to do this tonight, but where can I find Windows (do I need a license?) because these are computers given by my region and we don't have the installation CD, just the recovery one. I saw that we could download Windows SP2 (on "download.....") is that enough to install Windows?

I wanted to know, my parents have a desktop PC with Millennium Edition and I believe they have the installation CD, would that work knowing that when I received the computer, Vista was installed on it? And if yes, can I install XP SP2 on top of it? And Linux? Otherwise, my sister has her computer which is failing but she has XP, is there a way to recover her XP and put it on mine? (She didn't have an installation CD) If yes, how?

It's working again!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, I just had to set my DVD player as number 1 in the boot order, and I tried with the reinstallation CD, and it worked. I could have done this a week ago! but anyway, thanks again for helping me.
