Reading global text resources

Good evening,
I changed my PC in June, moving from XP to Vista and reinstalling Photoshop CS (v.8) without any problem. Since then, no issues, everything was working perfectly. And bam, for the last 3 days, I can’t open Photoshop. It locks up irreparably on "Reading global text resources... Finished," with my palette on the left, white as a sheet, and the central window desperately gray... Uninstall/reinstall - about fifteen times in all -, restore, reset Photoshop preferences, remove fonts - moved to another folder -, move Photoshop's global file from drive C: to drive D:, in short I’ve tried everything, with no positive result! The only thing I’m sure of is that the software still runs somewhat because, by creating a dummy session on my PC, I was able, from that, to reopen Photoshop without issue. However, as one might expect, I don’t particularly feel like wasting time playing between my real session and a fake session for Photoshop’s "pretty eyes." It bothers me especially because I truly need this software for my studies and I’m basically absolutely NO GOOD at computers - I’ll admit, that doesn’t help... -. If anyone had a bright idea to solve this cumbersome problem - this is quite a headache on the edge, that said in passing - I would be VERY grateful!
Thank you in advance :].

Ok, it's an old post but I have an answer.
You just need to delete the hidden Photoshop settings:
C:\Documents and Settings\ "Utilisateur" \Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\9.0\Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings\
Delete everything in this folder and Photoshop will unlock.
That's all.

Good evening,
I’m taking the liberty to raise this topic again because I’m stuck at the same level and there haven’t been any solutions found... Deleting preferences, reinstalling, nothing changes.
Help please!

I obviously did think about it, but if I could have avoided doing it, that would have helped me a lot ^^.
delete your preferences... I just had the same issue, and after deleting them, Photoshop starts normally.
Thank you but I’ve already removed the preferences for a while and it changes absolutely nothing in my case...
Hello, I have exactly the same problem, Photoshop has been playing tricks on me since yesterday, since it decided to stop working on my main session suddenly, it freezes at "text resources loading completed." I uninstalled, reinstalled from A to Z but nothing helps. And the funny thing is that it works on my guest session without any issues. but it annoys me a bit to have to bounce between sessions. I also deleted hidden settings but no, that’s not the miracle solution to my problem. regarding the formatting, I don’t have a virus, so losing 3 days to reinstall all my software no thanks. there is just one setting to change somewhere on my PC. I should note that I’m running Windows Vista and it worked fine before. I tried starting it without antivirus the problem is the same. Does anyone have the answer to this problem? THANKS
See kalou's message. It works

RESOLVED:
on Win7:
Modify folder options: CHECK "display hidden files and folders"
then go to
Computer\System\Users\ "username" \Application Data\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\
then rename the folder "parrametres Adobe CS" to "parrametres Adobe CS save"
restart Adobe Photoshop, the settings will be recreated and a new folder will be created in "Préfs Adobe Photoshop CS"
then delete the folder "parrametres Adobe CS save"

Hi,
a bunch of people have run into this problem, including me. After exhausting various possible solutions (deleting the TWAIN file in the ImportationExportation folder, reinstalling Photoshop, restoring the computer, deleting preferences, removing recently installed fonts... etc that I found on forums and some of which actually work) without success I tried something—apparently Photoshop works for everyone but in another session. If you don’t want to bother changing session all the time, you need to be in the session where Photoshop crashes (it’s better if it’s the admin session). go to Documents and Settings\Nom_De_La_Session_Ou_Photoshop_Marche\Application Data\Adobe; there you copy the Photoshop folder. Then go to Documents and Settings\Nom_De_La_Session_Ou_Je_Suis_Et_Ou_Photoshop_Deconne\Application Data\Adobe and rename your Photoshop folder to photoshop_OUTOFSERVICE, for example, and paste the working Photoshop folder there. Relaunch Photoshop and it should work as before.

Hello,
I see that everyone managed to solve the problem except me. I’m under Windows 10...
On the C drive I don’t have Documents and Settings - I don’t have System... I do have Systeme.sav but nothing interesting inside...
And my Photoshop V8 crashes at startup on "Reading Global Text Resources... Completed", with my left palette white as snow and the central window desperately gray...
Help...
