How to change photos to 300 dpi in GIMP?

Hello,  I have a website and I would like to know how to set my photos to 300 dpi, minimum 10 cm x 10 cm, using GIMP for printing in a paper catalog.  Thank you in advance for your response.  Demetan

Go to Image --> Scale and Size and set X and Y to 300 dpi and then click on Scale http://ioj.com/v/p5f0z and then your (image) is at 300 dpi http://ioj.com/v/yva7a

In 10 X 10cm and for good quality, you need a photo of 300dpi and therefore at least 2 Megapixels (1600 X 1200)
It's at the time of taking the picture that this is decided; if the photo is too small from the start, it's doomed.

I have a 6-megapixel camera. I take a picture of a bag, I open GIMP, I clean the photo, crop the bag as much as possible, and then how do I change it to high resolution, at 300 dpi?
(I don't know much about graphic design, so if your answer can be non-technical, that would help me understand)

I need to email a printer a document that I scanned in A4 format at 300 dpi, and a photo taken from my Windows photo gallery. Both documents are at 72 dpi. How should I proceed? Thank you for suggesting a solution, as I'm not very computer-savvy!!!
