Hello,
I just bought a Sony DVD recorder RDR-HXD890 and I can't connect it to my CANALSAT decoder (MEDIASAT +). I have followed the installation manual, but it doesn't work: antenna to the input of the CANALSAT box / SCART from the decoder to the recorder / antenna from the recorder to the TV / HDMI cable from the recorder to the TV. Despite this, I can't see any channels on the TV;
Can someone guide me and provide the steps to follow.....
Thanks in advance for your valuable advice

Hello. And no, you should not connect the VCR scart of the decoder to the scart of the recorder. Here is the connection:
Decoder scart (the one on top) to recorder scart (the one on top).
Decoder scart (the one on the bottom) to AV1 scart of the TV.
Recorder scart (the one on the bottom) to AV2 scart of the TV.
For the HDMI, it's fine. @ +.-
First of all, thank you for your valuable advice... I would never have managed it with the user guide... Is it necessary to connect the bottom SCART to the AV2 SCART of the TV WHEN the HDMI cable is connected? Does this not create a double video output? Additionally, is it possible to watch one channel and record another with the CanalSat receiver? The dual digital tuner of the Sony RDR-HXD890 should allow it, right? Thank you in advance.

Hello. No. The dual tuner of the recorder does not allow you to watch one CanalSat channel while recording another unless your MediaSat also has a dual tuner. This recording can only take place on LINE 1.
It is not necessary to connect the SCART to the TV, but for me, it serves as a backup in case your HDMI stops working.
However, you can record a TNT channel from your recorder and watch a terrestrial channel (Antenna).
See you later. -

Hello. Check in your recorder's settings if DECODER is not checked; if it is, uncheck it and check VIDEO instead. If DECODER is checked, it's normal that you don't have a picture on your TV. See you later.

Hello. You need to connect as follows:
Decoder Scart (the one on top) to Recorder Scart (the one on top).
Recorder Scart (the one on the bottom) to your TV's Scart.
To be able to record and watch Canal+, you need to display it on the front of your Sony L1.
See you. -
The connection described for a satellite receiver is as follows:
- Antenna input to receiver
- Scart output from the RECEIVER to LINE1 input of the recorder
- Antenna output from the receiver to the antenna input of the recorder
- Antenna output from the recorder to the TV input
- HDMI cable connecting the recorder and the TV
The Sony RDR-HXD 890 is described with a dual digital tuner which should allow recording of satellite channels onto the recorder
Finally, not much is working at the moment.... can you help me with the connections....
thank you in advance -

Hello Domfi. I gave you the connections in another post. It has to work. If it doesn't work, then you have another problem. See you later.

I have another problem: I have a Sony RDR HXD890 160 GB. I want to put a movie that I recorded on it (in "Title list") onto a DVD. But I have no idea how I could do that.
Thank you in advance for your help. -
Hello. To do what you want to do, you need to change your decoder for an HD one that has a dual tuner. See you.
