J'ai un stress (apparement) ; je viens d'installer Ubuntu 8.04 - amd64bits sur un pc que je ne connais pas encore tellement bien.
En principe la carte wifi atheros aurait du être prise en compte nativement ... en principe :

Apparement, elle est activer mais dans mon ifconfig,iwconfig, pas de traces du périphérique.
Pas de trace non plus dans le network manager(nm-applet).

Si tu peux te connecter grâce à un cable ethernet, fais le, normalement tu seras relié à internet automatiquement.
Ensuite, tu relances la procédure pour te connecter au wifi et normalement, Ubuntu te demandera de télécharger des pilotes comme madwifi, ath et tout, acceptes et laisses les s'installer, ensuite une fois que tout est terminé, déconnectes toi du cable ethernet et connectes toi au wifi. Si ça fonctionne pas, redémarres.
Si ça fonctionnes toujours pas, as-tu bien installé une version 64 bits?

j'ai bien installé linux-restricted-module ... 64bit généric pour ma version du kernel, et si tu lis le lspci, apparement le périph et bien reconnu et en fonctionnement correct.
Le lien entre les applications qui gerent le wifi et les drivers ne fonctionnent pas.
(J'ai déjà installé et réinstallé plusieurs fois). -

Au pire, j'ai testé avec wifi-radar, pas de trace du périphérique.

Le périphérique est bien reconnu oui, MAIS, il manque des pilotes!
Moi même quand je réinstalle Mandriva, il me reconnait mon atheros, mais il manque certains pilotes.
Donc, tu peux te connecter avec un Ethernet et demander la connexion avec le wifi une fois connecté avec Ethernet, ET il va te demander de télécharger des pilotes comme ath et d'autres dont je ne me souviens plus le nom! Tu les installes et tu débranches le cable Ethernet, et normalement tu es connecté au wifi. Sinon tu redémarres et tu testes. -

Ca ne coute rien d'essayer.
Sinon tu peux te rendre sur le forum Ubuntu où l'aide sera plus complète. -
Cette étape est déjà faite, c'est pas la première fois que j'installe ubuntu.
Sur un pc avec le chipset similaire, çà fonctionne (sur ubuntu,mandriva,debian,gentoo,suse).
Le pilote dont tu parles est linux-restricted-.... module amd64 généric pour mon kernel et madwifi-tools.
Dans le gestionnaire des pilotes prioritaires, ma carte est installée et utilisée !

Ca te retourne quoi dmesg? (juste la fin, après le chargement du driver madwifi).

J'ai identifié le problème je pense, grace au dmseg, ath_hal ne prend pas en charge le wireless AR242X et apparement, je ne suis pas le seul a avoir le problème :

Il faut une version plus récente de madwifi 0.9.5 renseigne-t-on sur le site de madwifi
Je n'ai que la version 0.9.3, celle du dépot ubuntu de base.
Soit j'installe la nouvelle version de madwifi soit je passe par ndiswarper.
Je vais essayer d'installer madwifi.
Je vous tiens au courant.-
Fallait le dire que t'avait une ar2425.
En ce cas prend la version svn hal-0.10.5.6:svn http://svn.madwifi.org/madwifi/branches/madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6 madwifi cd madwifi make sudo make install sudo modprobe ath_pci
Bon faudra peut être redémarrer pour bien décharger les anciens modules. A moins que tu saches décharger toi-même ath_hal mais ya trop de dépendances...

Ca marche parfaitement bien.
Il faut vérifier que vous avez linux-headers, build-essentiel, subversion(svn)
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential subversion svn checkout http://svn.madwifi.org/madwifi/branches/madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6/ cd madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6 make sudo make install sudo modprobe ath_pci
sudo reboot
et ne pas oublier :sudo ifconfig ath0 up

la commande correct pour dumper le dossier "madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6/" c'est
sudo mkdir madwifi
sudo svn checkout http://svn.madwifi.org/madwifi/branches/madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6/ madwifi/
puis tout le rest ci dessus !!

bah moi j'ai Ubuntu 8.10 - le bouquetin intrépide(Intrepid Ibex) - sorti en octobre 2008, avec Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01) et bah !! ÇA MARCHE PAS !! avec madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6 (comme conseiller ICI ==> http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/af … -ubuntu#11) car aparament avec madwifi 0.9.3 ça marche pas. "il faudrais madwifi 0.9.5" ... OU PEUT ETRE QUE J'AI OUBLIER UN TRUC ..
je croit que je vais test aussi Ndiswrapper...
