800W amplifier, okay and then?

Hello,
here is a question I've been asking myself for a while:
With an 800W amplifier like this one: http://www.rueducommerce.fr/Equipement-Automobile-GPS/Ampli/4-canaux/BLAUPUNKT/432195-AMPLI-4-CANAUX-800-Watts-MAX-BLAUPUNKT-GTA-460.htm

In the case where we want to install a subwoofer and 2 speakers,
what power should the components have? Why?
Thanks!!
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.0.1

On an amp, you need a sub or a speaker but not both because you can't adjust both.

Hi xwihec, 800W amp, you talk about it, it's just bogus marketing! ... and they dare to write that on it, that's the icing on the cake.

Let me explain: since car speakers are at 4 ohms, we can immediately eliminate the values measured at under 2 ohms which are higher...

If you take a good look at the technical specifications: http://www.rueducommerce.fr/Equipement-Automobile-GPS/Ampli/4-canaux/BLAUPUNKT/432195-AMPLI-4-CANAUX-800-Watts-MAX-BLAUPUNKT-GTA-460.htm

800 W refers to the maximum total power (measured on the peak signal), and since you have 2 outputs, that only makes it 2 X 400! (still in peak). Their stuff melts away like snow in the sun... and it's not over.

You also have to deduct some watts from those 400W (maximum power) to get the effective power, and further down you can read: RMS power at 4 ohms 2 x 180 Watts

So you have an amp of 180W. Since the amp produces noise, saturation, and distortion when it's at maximum, it's best not to push it to the limit, so I'm saying there are about 150 usable W! (no comment...)

Power of the elements: 180 W (between 160 if you don't push it to the limit, and 200W)

...And as aiptec77 says, there is no sub output.

    I completely agree with SURFADCOM

I am a car audio salesman

If you want good sound, go to a dealer in your area or near a tuning club...
