Sims 2 Double Deluxe installation issue

Hello,

Yesterday I bought The Sims 2 Double Deluxe, which includes The Sims 2, Nightlife, and Celebration! The game I bought is a PC DVD-ROM. My PC can read DVDs; it is very recent. I tried to install it, and the drive started making strange noises. I don't understand why because my PC is capable of reading DVDs. But before it started making those strange noises, it said that it was unable to copy certain files like Autorun. I tried to install it by going through My Computer, but nothing works.

For your information, I have:

Vista
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU
2.67 GHz
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5K SE
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT

I know that some others have had installation problems with this game on Vista.
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

    I have it too...
    At first, I tried it on my mom's computer... It didn't work...
    Then I tried it on my PC and it worked... For you, it doesn't work just because you don't have the 3D graphics card... and well, it's okay if you can't hear it well...

    I tried the code given on this page and it worked! But I have an installation problem; it stops at 70 for the HOUSEMIX file (it's for the DJ thing, it's a song from the game, and yesterday it stopped at 95! It's so frustrating!)

      I had a problem with my computer and now it’s empty, no files left…
      I tried to install THE SIMS 2 DOUBLE DELUXE but the problem is that it stops at 58% and I don’t know why. Thank you for your help…

      You may find this ridiculous, but I tried a technique I found online to clean scratched CDs, because I had the same problem with the same game:
      I cleaned the back of the CD with a banana and wiped it with a CD/DVD cloth, and it worked.

    It happened the same to me with the first installation of SIMS LIFE STORY, so I removed it, I waited, I turned off my computer and then I turned it back on, I put my CD back in and it went fast in its own way (sometimes fast and then at one point it slows down and so on), that's why it drives you crazy, you wonder if it's going to work and all! Now every time I install this game it goes super fast, in less than 2 minutes it's done!

        hours!
        and when I got my laptop
        it only takes 5 seconds to go to a community field
        or go home!
        anyway my advice is to change your computer and get a more powerful one!
        I recommend it!

    it's not coming from the code and even less from Vista but from your Sims CD
    I had the same problem and just to try I bought the game again (I have Vista) and everything works
    There must be a scratch that prevents progress
    Also, I remember a technique (which didn't work for me but for other people)

      Hello, I bought the game today, the disc is new, no scratches, and yet during the installation it freezes at 26% and it says "an error occurred while transferring the file. Retry copying the file or cancel the installation? Retry or cancel" and when I click on retry it advances to 27% and gives me the same message again. I've tried about twenty times, I restarted each time, but I really don't know what to do anymore. Can someone help me?

    If you bought it with a box, you need to install it. The code is written on the back of the box and it will help you solve certain problems.

    Maybe it's because it's not a game made for Windows Vista??? Or did you buy the Vista version of The Sims 2?

    @melyssa45: You will find the code on the back of the game manual. It will say "SERIAL NUMBER: and the code."

    I received my game "The Sims 2" (PC DVD) today, I have the same problem as you. I insert the CD but my computer won't read it, it makes a weird noise.
    I don't understand, can you help me?

    I don't have Vista, so it can't be that.

        C'est normal car il n'y a plus de place sur ton ordinateur ou alors c'est que ton ordi est trop ancien pour pouvoir installer les Sims. Il faut avoir beaucoup de place car les jeux des Sims prennent énormément de place sur ton ordi. Moi, je peux en mettre beaucoup car c'est un recent. Moi, j'ai Sims 2 et Sims 2 Animaux & Cie, et j'ai aussi Les Sims 2 Joyeux Noël en kit et Les Sims 2 Entre Chien et Chat et Les Double Deluxe.

      but I think it's a scam
      I advise you in the future to buy The Sims at FNAC that's where
      I bought my Sims and I've never had any issues!

    me too it did that to me but I changed them at the store where I bought it and now it works! it's probably a manufacturing issue!
