Why do I need to press F1 to start

Hello everyone!

So I have a little problem: when I turn on my PC, I absolutely have to press F1 to access my desktop. In addition, my PC is very slow; once I press F1, it gets stuck for at least 3 minutes on the "welcome" page, then stays stuck for another 3 minutes on the desktop before I can open a file or a folder. It's really long.

So, if someone could tell me why I absolutely need to press F1 to start and why it's so slow. I've had this PC and internet for 3 years, and it has never done this before. Thank you!

When the F1 key is requested at startup, it means that you just need to set the boot type in the BIOS and disable non-existent drives (e.g., floppy disk).

Try this...
"Start Menu" ->"Run" type cmd

In the window type chkdsk C: /f
Type Y (for Yes)

Restart and let the check disk run

Hello,

What is the message that justifies pressing F1??

Are you updated in terms of viruses, malware, etc.?

Have you tried restarting in safe mode? Does it run faster or is it the same?

Did your problem occur following an event, installation of a software, etc...?

First of all, thank you for replying.
So here it is, when I turn on the PC, the first screen shows "press F1", if I don't, nothing happens.
My computer was infected a few days ago: I installed CCleaner, Spybot Search, Ewido, AVG, and Ad-Aware. I cleaned everything.
I did an online scan with Kaspersky and apparently it's clean now, but there's still this issue of pressing F1 and the slow startup.

Hi

When you see "press F1 to resume" at startup, there is a problem with the BIOS (hardware issue?).
Have you added/removed any hardware?

If you can boot in Safe Mode, try typing this in Run

chkdsk /f

then type 0 for Yes and restart your PC.

It will check your hard drive on restart.

Ah ok, I'll try to enter the BIOS, but then what do I do? Will there be instructions to follow or not? Sorry, I'm not very good at this... I'm afraid I'll mess something up (lol).

  There are several sections to configure the BIOS, but since you don't know anything about it and I don't know the type of your motherboard, the best option would be to load the default settings of your BIOS.
  
  It's usually the rightmost menu, you should see "Load default..." or "Load safe..."
  
  Then, you click "Save" before restarting.

yes, I forgot, it says "press F1 to resume"
and I wasn't able to start in safe mode.

yes in safe mode it should be fine.
a few days ago I had some sort of spyware I think ---> spysheriff

 I don’t know what antivirus you have, but I recommend replacing it with Avast!, which is very good!

 NO NO AND NO AVAST IS BAD BAD BAD it's too late compared to the others (it just surpasses Norton) moreover it has only the name of an antivirus, personally I recommend Antivir

Well, I don't think so; there is a little more than half free.
Is it in the workspace --> Local Disk C --> Properties that we can see that?

It restarts a bit faster in diagnostic mode but it's not quite that. However, I still managed to start in safe mode and it's fine, it boots up normally.

As antivirus, I have AVG and I don't know what to do anymore; I've been trying to fix everything for a week.

Hmm, that's curious..

Try to start your Windows, then go to the Start menu, then Run and type msconfig

In the General tab, click on Safe Boot.. and restart to see if it lags less at startup

Also, in the Startup tab, you can see the programs that load at startup..

  Well, it's obvious that it comes from the BIOS, the settings have been changed, so if it wasn't you who did it, maybe it's the battery that's dead!?
  
  He tells you that the CPU has been changed and asks you to go into the BIOS to adjust the processor frequency, then save the settings before exiting.
