Is vosmms.com a scam? Solved

Hello,

I just received a text message that said exactly:

You have received an Audio MMS from +33628******. Check it online at www.vosmms.com using your number +336******** and the password merles0.

Sorry to say this, but it smells fishy! Yes, yes, yes! I didn't go to it, I hope I was right. To be honest, if the person wanted to tell me something they would have sent me a text or a message on my voicemail. I think this is a hacking scam that’s being passed around. Every contact of each person must receive it, if of course the person enters their number.

Am I at risk if I do nothing or if I try to call the person (their phone was off an hour ago)? Are there any victims here? ^^

I confirm that the site vosmms.com is not a scam. I just visited it after receiving a message. I did search online to gather information about the site (and the forum on commentçamarche convinced me). This site is actually affiliated with SFR, it seems. It's too bad they don't mention it to clear up the doubt!

I understand the reluctance of those who do not want to put their number on the internet. Our mobile phone is soon more valuable than our credit card number.

I must admit I had a good laugh reading your post!
If you're receiving messages like that, it's because your mobile phone isn't set up to receive MMS.
Just so you know, an MMS is like a SMS but with a photo.
Also, the friend who sent you that message couldn't leave you a voicemail or send you a text because he was trying to send you a photo!!!
Regarding the message you received with the phone number and a code, that's to allow you to read the MMS online since your phone can't receive it.
You need to connect to the website indicated in the message, follow the site's instructions, and enter the provided password. Your friend's photo will then appear along with their message (if they attached one).
Finally, for your information, you will receive a new message of this type with just the code changing as long as you haven't viewed it (within a few days, depending on the carrier). Indeed, it's because the site changes the password daily to ensure the security of your message!!! So as long as you don't check it, you'll receive a new message every day indicating your password for that day!

Hello Thomas, no, this is not a hacking issue.
Personally, I am with SFR and I recently received some MMS, but my Motorola is not configured to receive them. I went to the site vosmms.com from SFR and I got it right away.
It was indeed the photo I was waiting for, so don't worry, everything is fine.

I have 2 responses to “clear up your confusion”:

1) It is true that, since you receive an MMS from an unknown sender by their phone number, you should be cautious and not open it: some friends experienced this, and it was pornographic photos! I received one this summer while they were with me (thankfully!), from an unknown sender, and on their advice, I deleted it immediately without opening it.

2) However, this morning I received one from a friend (who had warned me beforehand about sending it): her phone number was displayed, and I recognized it, along with a password to use. Thus, I was able to view it on the website www.vosmms.com with complete peace of mind: it was a lovely photo of Alpe d'Huez under 40 cm. of snow! Awesome.

Moral of the story: the sender's number must appear, and especially be known to you...

I just looked at my MMS on this site: it is not a scam at all, but it is indeed an SFR service!!!
It allows you to view your MMS and also to make the necessary settings so that your phone can send and receive them.

it's not a scam, it's simply that someone sends you a photo and/or a text with a photo and you can't receive it on your phone. I tested it with my cousin and as soon as she sends me a photo, I can't receive it so I get this message.

It's definitely a scam... I received the same message... at 5:30, which surprised me... like an idiot, I tried to open the site several times, because a message kept saying... unavailable for now... I called my buddy... and he's totally surprised, he didn't send me anything at all!!!!!! I hope my attempts to open it won't cost me money...

I also received the same message today at 6:40 AM from my mother. At first, I thought something bad had happened, but I quickly realized they were talking about a photo to discover sent by my mother by entering the password raisin6. I found it strange that my mother would send me a photo at such an early hour knowing that she usually uses my email account...

And indeed, she didn't send me anything! So BEWARE! It's better to check with the person if they actually sent something to our inbox. It will certainly cost us less in the long run...

Be sure to read the received message indicating that you have a pending MMS. If the message directs you to "VOSMMS.COM", this service belongs to SFR, and you can view your MMS without any problem.
However, I just received a similar message urging me to go to the URL: "Vos-sms.com". This service is a big scam that requires you to pay 4 euros and 50 cents to open your MMS!

Same here, I received a text saying that a number (that of a friend) sent me a multimedia message and to check it out on the site vosmms.com with the password "ingrat3767".
It looks to me like a big scam for 3 reasons:
_ this girl didn't send me any multimedia message
_ this site works with the SFR network, and neither my friend nor I are subscribed to it
_ the password (ingrat3797) is a bit of a joke -_-'

So I prefer to set my curiosity aside for once, and I strongly advise you to do the same ^^.
