How to hide endnotes in a document?

Hello,

I am interested in footnotes or endnotes in Word documents, but I would like the
associated comments to appear within the body of a page in my document
(I do not want a reference at the bottom of the page or at the end of the document). In fact, I am only
interested in the "superscript" numbers attached to the words, as I want to add the comments myself
in another part of the document.

Do you know if it is possible to hide the endnotes (which would allow me to leave them empty and note the comments in another location), or as a last resort, to add superscripts to words?

It’s not easy to explain; I hope it’s clear enough anyway.

Thank you for your help

Hello Samadhi,

Sorry for my attempt at a message that I couldn't finish earlier.

You say: "Actually, I'm only interested in the 'superscript' numbers attached to the words, because I want to add the comments myself in another part of the document."

It's this last sentence that I don't understand. Because if you plan to have notes at the end of the document, you can separate them by inserting a section break just before, and the notes would thus be in another part of the document that you can manage as you want.

If that's not it, you could insert your notes normally to have your numbers in superscript in the text, and plan them at the end of the document to retrieve them better later. Then, you can hide them with Format/ Font / Hidden (underlined with small dots). They won’t be printed. (But to keep track, display them with Tools / Options / Display / Hidden text).
You could then copy them in bulk to insert them elsewhere in normal text. However, you will lose the automatic numbering, and that will force you to renumber the copied notes.

That's the only idea I have, a bit far-fetched maybe! Subject to a better trick that might come up.

But you would need to specify exactly where you want to put them.

Good evening Argixu,

Thank you very much for your explanations! I adopted the masking solution I wasn't familiar with, and I also removed the footer delimiter (by switching to normal view, then selecting view, notes, you can remove the delimiter). The result is that the footnotes no longer appear, but the numbers remain in superscript on the words, which I was desperate to keep in order to introduce my comments elsewhere. There is still a blank page at the end, but that shouldn't bother me too much. Thanks again for your good advice!

See you later
Sam

Thank you, Sam.
However, it would also be good to see an insertion of a section break that would give you an independent part in your file... if you want them in the same file.
