Installation I-go 2008 on GPS E610

Hello,

I'm getting started

1) Normally, people with this GPS should have an SD card reader with it. First, you need to retrieve "28_gsexplorer.rar" (a quick search on the net should do). Then, extract "gsexplorer.exe"

2) On the card, rename the folder "mobilenavigator" to "mobilenavigator1" and create a new folder "mobilenavigator". Paste "gsexplorer.exe" into it and rename it to "mobilenavigator.exe"

3) Search online for "pack_g280.rar", a utility pack for a similar GPS. Extract it and copy the file "ShowTaskbar.exe" (found in system) and paste it into the "mobilenavigator" folder

4) Completely turn off the GPS "on/off", restart it with the SD card inside. When you arrive at the 3 icons, click on navigation, and miraculously you'll land on the Windows Explorer (that's already a first step).

5) Click on SDMMC, mobilenavigator, and run ShowTaskbar.exe.

6) Click on windows, go to programs and launch Windows Explorer

7) In the second bar of "address : My device", double-click to bring up the numeric keyboard.

8) Close all windows with the cross at the top left, and in the end, only the numeric keyboard should remain on the GPS homepage.

9) On the numeric keyboard, click "ESC" and you will land on the Windows CE V5.0 desktop with the taskbar at the bottom. To make the keyboard disappear, move it and click on the keyboard "HIDE Input panel" on the taskbar

Here’s a first step that I would call "unlocking the GPS", because theoretically, it's possible to do everything from the Windows platform (but I haven't had the time yet).
I'll describe to you tomorrow how to install IGO 2008.

Good evening.

PS: Sorry for the multiple posts, I opened another topic but the title didn't match. If a moderator could please close the topic "Gps E610 request for advice" that I opened this afternoon. (my first blunder...) thanks again.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello everyone, I'm starting the installation of I-go 2008. I recommend a 2GB SD card:

1) download IGO08 here:
files/95248871/iGO8_PC_PDA_PNA.zip (find it using the search engine as I'm not sure if it blocks my post.

You have 2 folders "iGo8_PDA_PNA" and "iGo_8_PC". A little wink to the clever one who said that you need I-GO PC to install it: that's nonsense!!! (proof with the folder).

2) unzip and copy the IGO8 folder from the "iGo8_PDA_PNA" folder to the SD card,

Hi,
I advise you to download the 3.5 pack from this site:
http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=ROWLANMV

File name: 3.5.rar
File size: 169.38 MB

On this site, you need to enter the 3-character code on this page (enter several different codes, then it will ask you to wait a few seconds, after which you can download IGO8)
There you go, you finally have IGO 8.

All that's missing are the compatible maps for igo8, which you can find here:
http://116.228.63.6/gps/untitled-1.html

And follow the installation procedures on this forum...

Good luck!

Sorry gpspedro

but the site you gave at http://116.228.63.6/gps/untitled-1.html is the site for IGO 2006 demo and the maps from this site do not work for IGO8. Be careful, check your sources so as not to mislead those who, like you, started one day with the installation of IGO8 on gps 610.

read this same discussion from response No. 35

I think that in this discussion, there are enough answers to install IGO 8 with complete peace of mind as long as you read everything.

I know, it’s tedious but it’s through effort that you get what you want.

After trying, it's the link that was blocking my posts. I just tried to find the folder with YAHOO and "files/95248871/iGO8_PC_PDA_PNA.zip", and we can find it... Your turn now.

3) At this point, you have the "nu" software without the French maps and voices. And sorry, but I can't remember where I got them from. I had a version of IGo8 PPC and PDA, I just copied the "CONTENT" file containing all of that and pasted it onto the SD card to replace the empty one.

4) Turn off the GPS "on/off", reinsert the SD card. Turn it on again and repeat the process to get the explorer.

Small break: go to ResidentFlash, mobilnavigator, and delete all the sound files "GPS SPEED CAMERA STARTING", which are really annoying at startup...

5) Go to SDMMC, IGO8, double click on IGO (small blue icon).

6) IGO will launch. It takes a little time, don't panic, 55 seconds. If you click on exit, it goes back to the explorer.

That's it, IGO 2008 is running on the GPS E610. Note that I tried it outside yesterday successfully, and today I will test it in the car (I'll keep you posted).

PS: I just have one problem, when I put it to sleep with the button on top, it bugs. I have to turn it off/on and repeat the process (nothing too serious, except for the startup time).

Hoping to have made my contribution. The fact that we can access the explorer allows for the installation of all sorts of software, I leave it to you to share your installations and improve the access system to Windows CE.

Thank you for the version of the bare software, I did find it, but where can I find the elements to "dress it up"? Because in its bare state, it's useless. Do you have any tips you could share?

BONJOUR

I did all the proposed steps to install igo8 on my GPS "New 4.3 GPS+Europe map bluetooth FM Free Gift 402 UK" purchased on eBay, but I can't get it to work.
I downloaded all the maps, poi, dem, and radar and put them in the right places in igo8, but honestly, my GPS won't start. What’s the solution? Thank you.

Hi,
If the GPS works with the original SD card, don't panic.
Have you followed step 109 from blemor22's response?
The answer might be there.
See you!

I thank you for your advice
but I apparently have a damaged file that I can't even delete
I will buy a new SD card as you suggested
I agree for you to send me i go 2008
I give you my address lydia.daluz@free.fr
I thank you because now I don't dare to touch it anymore.

Hello,
Yes, you can delete them and restore the auto launch.
To directly launch I-GO 2008, you need to do the opposite of the first post:

1) rename the folder containing IGO08 to "mobilenavigator",

2) rename the file IGO8.exe to "mobilenavigator.exe".

The folders need to be like they were originally (but with I-go 2008).

P.S.: I tried IGO-08 this weekend. No particular issues. A major crash on the first route, the GPS disconnected every 30 seconds.
Otherwise, it is a bit slow to load, but the navigation is user-friendly. Route changes and recalculations are quick.
One downside, I installed the speed cameras, and it takes at least 4 minutes to launch the software (even after sorting and keeping only the fixed cameras). For the method, it can be found on another forum (found with a Yahoo search "radar I-GO 2008").

Have a great afternoon!

Hello,
I have managed to access the Windows CE V5.0 explorer,
what can I do with it?
I wonder if we can install a software, like a calendar for PDA or something that resembles that?
Has anyone tried this?

Hello everyone,
like others, I purchased a Chinese G750! (the replacement for the e610)
delivered with igo6 in unlimited demo version
I just installed igo8 with ease after reading these pages.
It works wonderfully!
A big thank you to all those who contributed to this forum!

Hello everyone,
new to the forum, I too have ordered a G350 which I will receive shortly. In the meantime, I'm preparing the memory card that will be used to install IGO8 based on your precious advice. The IGO I will install is this one http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ROWLANMV, after having copied the maps, and other POIs. However, I have a question: to have the speed cameras as up-to-date as possible, should I replace the SpeedcamUpdates.spud file (0 bytes) in the "Mobilecarte\content\speedcam" directory with the new one I generated using the CSV2ASC software from a garmin.zip file? Do I need to perform this operation each time I update the speed camera database?
Thank you in advance.

Absolutely, that's the trick to do, there's no problem. You need to replace the existing file with the new file created each time you want to update.

Thank you for your quick response
Erratum (it should read G750 in my post and not g350).
It is therefore not necessary to go through Active Sync; a simple card reader is enough to transfer the new file?
Let's see if I understood all the explanations correctly;
If we have created a card containing IGO8 from scratch, to revert to IGO6, we just need to turn off the GPS, put back the original card and restart, there's no need to uninstall any memory files as is the case with other GPS devices where the installation happens via an autorun?
If we want to change the version of IGO8, we need to rename the new IGO8.exe file to mobilecarte.exe and copy it over the old one, replace data.zip with the new one and... now I have a doubt, should we copy the contents of the new license folder into the old one (thus adding a license) or completely replace the old license folder with the new one?
Next questions:
Where exactly should the art file for the car icon be placed to replace the arrow? in the Mobilecarte directory?
Where should the TT voice files be placed?
Which French skin uses them and which one do you think is the best (of course, the opinion will be subjective :-) )

That's a lot of questions, I know, but when I have my Gè(à, I will provide feedback.
Thank you in advance.

To transfer a file to the SD card, a simple card reader is sufficient (in principle, it comes with the GPS).

An SD card can contain IGO8 and another IGO6; changing the card changes the version without modifying anything inside the GPS.

If you want to change the version of IGO8, you need to rename the new file IGO8.exe to mobilenavigator.exe and replace the old one, replacing data.zip with the new version. As for the license, I don't remember, but it doesn't hurt to add it.

For the other questions, I don't know either because I don't use this setup with the car.

For the maps, I found those from July 2008
(a roundabout that is under construction near my home is already shown!)
they come from here:

Here I am again...

So I've done everything that was said but I can't access navigation. I can go to music and system but not navigation, I don't understand.

I don't know what to do anymore. Once you've done the operations, what do you do?

I apologize, but I'm really lost right now!!!

For a better explanation, you need to have only one folder on your SD card with IGO8:

Mobilenavigator

and in this folder, you must have the list from response #98.

If this is not the case, it cannot work.

When you click on the navigation icon, the GPS looks for the mobilenavigator folder on the SD card just like it looks for that same folder under version IGO6, which seems to work according to your statements.

The structure of your SD card with IGO6 is the same as with IGO8.

Hello,
When you put back the original SD card with IGO6, does the GPS work?
If yes, it doesn't matter, you generated your new map incorrectly, follow Blémor22's instructions closely and try again.
If no, either you deleted something on the original SD card (not too serious), or you deleted something in the GPS memory while trying to install ShowTaskManager or GPSExplorer, and that's more serious and beyond my limited skills.
Good luck!

Hello,

So indeed it works with my original card. I haven't touched this one at all and I've even saved it in case I make a mistake. And of course, in the version I took, there is no mobilnavigator. So I have to start all over again once more. When I download the folder, is it included directly in it, or do I have to create it myself and then put the folder inside?

BLEMOR22 Posted messages 75 Status Membre 1

I start again:

STEP 1

Take your blank (unformatted) SD card and install it into a reader on your computer or in the reader provided with the GPS and connected to the computer.

1) Go to response No. 26 or 78 in this same discussion and download the file 3.5.rar

2) Unzip the folder 3.5

You will obtain a folder 3.5 in which there is another folder 3.5.
In that other folder 3.5, there is a folder called "mobilenavigator"
It is this "mobilenavigator" folder that needs to be copied to your blank (unformatted) SD card

That's the first STEP
0
BLEMOR22 Posted messages 75 Status Membre 1

STEP 2

1) Go to response number 37 and visit the site "pouda.info"

On the first page of this forum, you will find a link "IGO8 finally on our Pocket PCs and PDAs"

Click on this link and after registering, you will be able to log in.

You will arrive at a discussion "IGO8 FR + map of France and EUROPE GPS 3D"

By scrolling through this page, you will find "download the MAPS / MAPS for EUROPE AND OUTSIDE EUROPE"

2) Download the "FRANCE COUNTRY MAP"

You will get a file: France8_2007.07_071010.fbl
0
BLEMOR22 Posted messages 75 Status Membre 1 > BLEMOR22 Posted messages 75 Status Membre

STEP 3

On your SD card:

1) Click on the "mobilenavigator" folder

2) Then click on the "content" folder

3) Click once more on the "map" folder

4) Copy the file "France8_2007.07_071010.fbl" obtained in STEP 2 into this "map" folder

5) Close all folders

6) Remove your SD card from the reader

7) Insert your SD card into the GPS

8) Turn on your GPS

9) Click on "navigation"

the loading of IGO8 should start, you just need to make the necessary settings
0
BLEMOR22 Posted messages 75 Status Membre 1

STEP 5

Important Information:

after clicking on navigation in the main menu (system - music - navigation)
under IGO8
you get the navigation menu:

search
route
manage
settings

click on settings
in the settings menu click on the arrow in the bottom right to go to page 2/2

you get:

GPS
menu
Trip log
TMC
Device
About

Click on GPS

You get:

GPS with the box that must be enabled

and launch automatic detection

and you should get

port: 2
transfer rate: 38400

from which point, the GPS should work and acquire satellites within 1 to 4 minutes (in open terrain), sometimes longer depending on the situation.

Good installation, I can't do better!

Hello everyone,

I bought myself a GPS 750. I received it with IGO 2006. But I only got the trial version. After having a look at this rich forum, I understood that I needed to install IGO 2008.

First of all, I started by buying a 2-giga memory card. Then, I followed the instructions given by BELMOR22.

I managed to install IGO 2008, but I can't understand how it works! By the way, I don't know how to use it.

The GPS works, there is a signal as mentioned in the forum. But one thing I can't understand! Is it enough to just type in the destination address and then the GPS will automatically show me the route? Also, there are no POIs.

I tried it this afternoon while driving, and when I was driving, I received audible alerts (in English, even though I set everything to French) telling me there were speed cameras, when there were none. On the other hand, in places where there were speed cameras, I didn't receive any audible alerts! Do you think this is normal?

On my way home, I took another look at the forum to see if everything was installed on my SD card (the structure of the "Mobilenavigator" directory after decompressing the 3.5 RAR file). However, after seeing response number 98 from BELMOR22, I noticed that many files are missing (are empty). They are as follows:

- folder: building (empty)
- The other folders (from DEM to VOICE) are the same as what was mentioned by BELMOR22.

BUT I DON'T HAVE the same files in some folders:

folder: save
I have everything mentioned by BELMOR22.
In addition, I have: CITYHISTORY_V3.sav + queries+ route+

Files:
For zip branding and zip data, I only have branding and data (but there is no word ZIP?????)

P.S.: on my SD card (of 2 giga), there is:
folder: gpslog (empty)
mobilenavigator (decompressed with some things more and less as I just explained)
mobilnavigator.old
france8_2007.07_071010.fbl
IGO_8_PPC_pouda.info

Another question to ask: For the other countries in Western Europe, how to add them?
Can we have the manual for IGO 2008? Where and how?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,
Blémor22 wrote, "As for the radar alerts always in English, like 'Warning Speed camera', those are files installed in the GPS by the provider indicating locations of fixed or mobile radars, but the alerts are given too late.

The two files of these alerts in English can be deleted.

See the discussion that addresses this topic, link in response No. 31."

I have gone through all the links and I couldn't find which files these are and how to delete them, I must be useless!
It's the only thing that annoys me because apart from that everything works: the skins, the themes, the voices, everything, except that f...ing message in English that drives my wife crazy.

PS: aside from the above problem, on this GPS I found a certain inaccuracy of the GPS, up to 100m sometimes, which places you on a road parallel to the one you are actually using. But well, it's the first car GPS I've had so I have no comparison, but I wouldn't use it for hiking. I have a portable one that I mainly use on boats, and frankly in terms of accuracy, there's no comparison, but the price is different too, so no comparison there either.

Thanks for helping me delete these files.
See you later.

Hello,
actually I found out how to remove those alerts:
Connect the GPS to the PC using ActiveSync,
explore the GPS (mobile device on Windows Explorer) and back up the Resident Flash directory to your computer just in case.

Then go back to the GPS Resident Flash directory, then to the ElecDog subdirectory. Delete (or rename to .bak for example) the two .wav files found there. You can also take this opportunity to delete or modify the starting.wav file in the mobilenavigator subdirectory of Resident Flash, which removes the unpleasant startup announcement. Then do a reset, and check by reconnecting with ActiveSync that the changes have been applied.
That's it, no more unsolicited alerts in English, and anyway, it's too late.
See you!

Well, after a try this morning...it's true that it takes a hell of a long time to start, the bugger!!! That said, once it's going, it's pleasant. Do you think it would be possible to go directly to navigation without having to go through the SDMC and IGO in blue, like making a shortcut that launches IGO directly?
For your information, I managed to find the IGO 08 files through a somewhat unorthodox method regarding French law, but hey!!! A word to the wise, consume with moderation "danger"!!!
Another question for John: so the files that we named "mobilenavigator1", can we delete or move them to save space? Are they useful to us?
