Hello,
Since I changed the ink cartridges in my printer, it displays error E5
I’ve looked on quite a few forums to troubleshoot my issue, but found no solutions.... sniff
So here’s the situation:
* Yes, they are compatible Canon cartridges just like the others I changed previously and from the same brand!
* I have already tried the trick with the folded sheet of paper that makes the matchstick or part pop out (for me, neither, not even a little cash lol)
* Printing and scanning do not work!!!
* And of course, this happens when I need to print important documents... what a coincidence...

Thank you for helping me... HELP!!!
Best regards and hope to hear from you soon
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

I have the same issue E5.

I recently installed KITECO type cartridges. It worked for a while but now nothing works... Error E5 and the B & C indicators are flashing, the error indicator (triangle) is steady. I changed the cartridges again for other KITECO ones... but nothing restarts.

Still haven't found a solution to bring the printer back to life.

I'm open to information...

Hallelujah!! It works!!
So I read this post and managed to figure it out like a pro!!
http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich 2510645 canon mp 150?page=3#57

Go for it Laro!! This might save you from having to change the machine!! First, unplug everything! Then check that there's nothing in the machine with an A4 sheet, then it's time to reinstall the cartridges and fiddle with the buttons..
Keep us updated on the continuation of your adventures :)

At the risk of sounding like a crazy person!! I have a laser printer but it only works through a parallel port, the inkjet serves me for the laptop with the USB port when I'm on the go and for small documents!! When I have to print a large quantity, I do it from the desktop and the laser printer!! But if the inkjet had given up on me, there would be no way to print from the laptop, so I am soooo happy that this annoying inkjet printer that also scans - which is also practical - is back in action!!!
Come on, good luck to those who have a struggling inkjet, it will eventually work!! Let's stop wasting and throwing away keyboards, screens, printers here and there!! Oops, that was my eco-friendly minute!

Shit then!! I'm going to go yell at the idiots who sold me the cartridge for the pain and we'll see!! Of course, the printer is no longer under warranty!! :grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Laser-printed!! Inkjet is a problematic source that becomes as expensive as laser, except that with laser, there are no issues.

Hi,

Nonsense! Laser printers are not infallible, far from it!

Personally, I have a CANON PIXMA MP600 and I only use original CANON cartridges. No problems so far, and I use my printer often, especially for developing photos.

NEVER use so-called "compatible" cartridges because they are crap.
It's exactly like buying a fake Rolex, except it's legal. Contrary to what is often claimed, the inks are not the same!
I had this unfortunate experience with an EPSON STYLUS 740 and the print results were catastrophic!

For the E5 error, search with Google (search engine), but I can't promise you anything...
Note that there is a chip on CANON cartridges and it is not always properly configured on compatible cartridges. If you get stuck, it’s a hassle for you...

Hello
Today I have the same issue you had, can you give me the solution?
The error codes 5 and 3 are flashing one after the other, I didn't have any ink left so I put in a new cartridge, but it's a generic brand and nothing happens, the error persists.
Thank you for your reply
Best regards

By "playing" with the tool box at the front and reinstalling a cartridge from the original brand, everything went back to normal. If you follow the information from the post, you should be able to do it.
Good luck!

Hello
thank you for your reply, this morning I put in the correct cartridge (Canon), I ran a folded sheet through, nothing was jammed, I turned everything off and then back on and great it worked, then I wanted to print a letter from my computer and bingo it started again, the 3 and 5 lights are flashing one after the other, and this time nothing works, I removed the cartridges, ran a folded sheet through again, turned it off, turned it back on and nothing works, I’m fed up, I have no more solutions..............
see you soon I’ll keep trying

Hello again
Do you think I need to replace the color cartridge for it to work? Because E5 keeps blinking and the color is empty; I thought black would be enough.
Best regards

you need to replace the cartridges with original ones and it works, all this to sell cartridges by Canon

I had the same problem as you with my mp140,

I found a solution: vigorously rub the back of the cartridges (the connection side) with a piece of paper. And it should work (it worked for me anyway!)

Hello, I have the same problem. I’ve looked everywhere for a solution, I even reset it and it worked the first time, but then when I changed the cartridges a second time, there it is, it’s rebooted but not responding. I think we should throw Canon printers in the trash; it’s a crappy brand.

I confirm: it's a shitty brand - the only printer capable of crashing Windows 7 - that's quite a feat - printer purchased three months ago - not a single print made (after installing the drivers, reinstalling, reinstalling, changing the cartridges...) The new printer is ready for Canon's landfill.
Thanks, Canon.

Damn it, I also tried some generic ones and the first two times it was perfect!! Now I'm having the same problem as you!! Has anyone tried installing the Canon cartridge??? Oh damn it, otherwise I'll end up with a laser printer that only works with a parallel port and my laptop has no parallel port!! Of course, I need it since I'll be traveling!! I'm not going to turn my desktop machine into a portable one!! grrrrrrrr freaking hell!!!

CANON secures the purchase of its cartridges, reset solution: you need to trick the CANON machine KEEP YOUR CANON CARTRIDGES without completely emptying them, then buy cheaper generic refill cartridges. As soon as you see the E5 message place the CANON cartridges the machine is fooled. Then you repeat the priming operation for the generic cartridges and it works. All of this is normal CANON wants to sell its CARTRIDGES.

Wanting to install recycled cartridges on my Pixma MP150, I attempted this operation which saved me.

Resetting cartridges on some Canon printers

To be tested on Pixma MP140, MP150, MP160, MP180, MP210, etc...

Solution:

Unplug the printer's power cable.
Press and hold the "Power" button.
Reconnect the power cable
Still holding "Power", press "Reset" (red circle and triangle) twice.
Release the "Power" button. The printer should take 10 seconds to start and display 0.
Press the + button to switch from 0 to 1.
Press the "Color" button (green diamond) once: 2 lights will turn on: normal paper and photo paper. Put paper in the tray.
Press "Power" twice, and it will print some bands and graphics. If it does not print, press "COLOR" or "RESET" once (it depends on the machines).
The display returns to 0.
Open the lid and remove the cartridges.
While leaving the lid open, unplug the power cable
Close the lid and reconnect the cable.
Reinstall the cartridges.
Close the lid and restart by pressing "Power".
