PS2 Memory Card Not Recognized in Slot 1...

Solved

Hello,

I have a little problem with my son's PS2. Bought second-hand, everything works fine. We bought him a 128MB memory card online so he can save his games, but this card is not recognized in slot 1 of the console (as if no card is inserted). On some games, I tried putting it in slot 2, and there it works fine. I feel like some games only "scan" slot 1, while others also "scan" slot 2.... which suits us well in this case.

My question: could it be because the 128MB memory card is not a PS2 Sony brand? Or is the memory card "port" number 1 defective on the console? If so, can it be replaced by retrieving a part from another similar console?

Thank you for shedding some light on this, as game consoles are not really my area of expertise.

See you,
Sylvain

I can no longer save or load a game because they say my memory card is not formatted, and when I try to format it, I get a failure message, so I can't play... any answers? Please!

    Hi,

Just so you know, I borrowed an official 8MB SONY memory card, and it works normally; both memory card slots are functioning.... so it’s the 128MB generic brand card I got online (unofficial) that is unreliable...

....this will serve as a lesson; I just need to get an official high-capacity SONY card.... but it will be more expensive.

There you go, see you later!
