Red spots on LG 42PC1RR plasma TV

Question

Hello,

I have a problem with an LG plasma TV 42PC1RR: a lot of red dots appear echoing after the image, especially in dark scenes, then they disappear. Other red dots form the number 6 of M6, which stays a little longer and varies depending on the day. This phenomenon could be described as noise in a digital image that appears intermittently.
If by any chance someone has the same problem? What causes it? And how to fix it!!!

I had the same issue with this LG model.
The customer service intervened once, but the problem persisted.
LG then issued me a credit with the retailer where I purchased it.
Credit for the total amount of the purchase.

So it's important to insist with LG customer service and everything will be fine.

I have exactly the same problem with my 50-inch LG. The only issue is that the TV is out of warranty. As a result, it costs 500 euros to change the 4 cards. I'm disgusted; I will never buy an LG brand again.

I have the same problem with the same screen, red spots that persist especially in the dark. The LG technician just came by. In fact, a few pixels are dead.

So, they should replace my TV either with the same model (which I doubt) or something better. Basically, an equivalent of what's currently on the market. Apparently, LG should call me to make proposals for screens.

Did they tell you the same thing at first?
I've read that some people were offered vouchers equivalent to the purchase price at retailers. This is pretty good because we can choose exactly what we want.

Last question, is there any possibility to arrange with LG to keep my current TV (since it's supposed to be faulty) in exchange for a less substantial screen or refund?

Hello, I just read your message. I bought a plasma on January 10, 2007, and after one week, a red dot was flashing under certain colors. I called them, and they told me that I needed three for the manufacturer's warranty to kick in. After more than two years of warranty, my plasma started having even more issues, showing lots of red dots on my screen, but they only flash on black. I called customer service because I had an extended 5-year warranty, and they directed me to the replacement service, but they said these were dead pixels, so no replacement. In the most cordial tone, I called my retailer and explained the problem again, telling them that the manufacturer's warranty was still valid at the time of my issue. They invited me to come in the next day with the plasma and the purchase receipt. I went the following day, and by miracle, the LG customer service technicians were there working on an LCD screen, changing a card. They only come 2 to 3 times a year. The customer service manager asked them to perform an update on my screen because there was probably a bug, which they did with their miracle device, which there are only six of in France, and by miracle, my plasma is working like new again.

I own, along with a friend, a LG 42pc3r plasma television purchased 3 years ago. (We bought it at the same time).
Today, the television displays a multitude of red dots on almost the entire surface of the screen.
I contacted LG's customer service, who replied that this problem exists with all plasma panel manufacturers (in short, a bunch of nonsense).
Do a Google search with the keywords "red dots Plasma", it’s enlightening.
For me, LG is finished for life, and I encourage you to turn to a more serious brand that doesn’t treat its customers like idiots when you buy your next television, whatever the technology.

There are two potentiometers to adjust on the Ysus board (on the left when you are behind the screen). Open it, locate them, and note their respective values as the adjustments require a lot of precision.

this problem is common and particularly occurs when you connect a device to it (satellite/TNT decoder, game console, player, etc.)
the issue is that many plasma screens handle 60hz very poorly, so you need to set your decoder to 50hz, and your consoles will have to settle for an RGB cable or a setting in the options
