Hello,
For the past few days, when I start my LG RH 265 recorder, the DVD tray opens by itself. When I put a DVD in it and press close, it closes and then reopens without attempting to read the DVD.
If I press the DVD button on the remote control, the tray closes and then reopens without attempting to read the DVD.
If I turn off the device, the tray remains open....
What is the solution?
Please
Thank you for your advice and responses

I tried LeGnome's solution on my LG RH188 burner that had the same issue and it worked. The drawer had been opening unexpectedly for a long time. I had sent it back to customer service, who fixed the problem, but it only lasted a year. So I followed LeGnome's instructions:
- Open the device. Even when unplugged, your device contains components that remain electrically charged and can electrocute you.
- Dismantle the cover of the burner block
- You need to arrange to block the burner with the drawer open as it is easier to remove (you can just slide it out)
- Disconnect the connectors at the back of the block
- Remove the rubber that drives the pulley
- Remove the rear panel
- Eject the motor as described by LeGnome and carefully follow his instructions: "Under the front face of the drawer, there is the eject motor. It is held by a clip on the circuit board and two clips on the sides of the motor. You eject this motor, and on top there are two small white contacts that detect when the drawer is closed.
In my case, I tested the two small white contacts with an ammeter and noticed that one of them was not working. Inside, there are two small springs, and over time they relax. With pliers and a lot of patience, I managed to put them back in place. Now everything works.
Good luck.-

Hello,
I did this manipulation. Moreover, I noticed that the white angled slides that bring the plate back to horizontal needed lubrication. It wasn't sliding enough and the motor didn't have enough power to bring the plate back to horizontal. I used grease and a bit of oil. After several opening and closing maneuvers, it gradually got back to normal as the grease spread. -

Hello,
No, I'm sorry, I haven't taken the time to take my device apart again to take pictures.
In fact, since it's working and I don't have much available time..... ;)
If it's really necessary, please post the request again, and I'll try to do it quickly, but otherwise, following the detailed instructions in my previous post should be enough.
It's within everyone's reach. No need for a soldering iron, nor any knowledge of electronics or computing.
You just need a bit of patience when disassembling the button and precision when reassembling it.
Be careful with the ribbons and connectors.
Good luck.
( Time required: approximately 1 hour )
See you, The Gnome-

BRAAVO!!!!!!
On the other hand, you might tell me he was on the wrong track. But your famous miracle fix finished it off.
WARNING to all, you risk damaging the device's power supply by dismantling the CD drawer, and as a result, it won't start anymore; it gets stuck in a boot loop.
Leave the after-sales service work to true professionals; don't do like me or take the advice of Le Gnome!!! -
Hello David,
First of all, I want to make it clear that I cannot be held responsible for your engraver being out of order.
YOU took the initiative to disassemble it and 'mess around' with it...
Secondly, did you remember to unplug the power supply before opening the device?
If you 'fried' the power supply of your engraver, I don't see how it can still be stuck on 'boot'?
So please check again if you didn't forget a connector...
My manipulation simply consists of disassembling the device to access a small switch to clean the contacts. Nothing more. No software updates, no 'hacks' on the electronics!
I don't see how this cleaning could have damaged anything.
Now, if you connected something the wrong way, or forgot a connector and your device is destroyed, indeed, YOU SHOULD HAVE CALLED A REAL TECH SUPPORT!
:)
For others, if you pay attention, there is no risk.
Cheers, The Gnome -
Obviously, I unplugged the power! I remind others having this problem that in this type of device we have components (when it is powered on) that can electrocute you.
In any case, I find your attitude a bit irresponsible. When I realized I had made a mistake, I immediately alerted the forum.
You say you have a great solution, but no pictures or concrete steps to back it up. Furthermore, I have never held you responsible for the destruction of my device. I was aware of the risks when opening it. However, others need to know that you don't open a device of this type lightly and that it is risky. Hence the remark about customer service.
Now, the best solution with this type of device (even though it is unfortunate) is to buy another one. They clearly had a serious manufacturing defect regarding both the hard drive and the DVD burner, and the new LG products are designed quite differently now.
Let other readers be fully aware: if you start having problems with CD drawers with your burner (like the RH 277), it is on the verge of failing!!!

Having found this forum and people with the same problem as me with an LG recorder, try this.
I also have an LG home recorder (purchased in December 2007) that started ejecting its drawer uncontrollably a few weeks ago. It would eject its drawer on startup, before starting a recording, etc.
My wife and I had the simple idea to try resetting the factory settings just in case... and lo and behold, it worked for us. Once the player was reset and reprogrammed (see below), no more problems with the drawer!
So to perform the manipulation: the reset command can be found in the settings menu. Several successive confirmations will be required, just like when setting up the device. On my model, the hard drive formatting is a separate option, just below it, so it's needless to say that I did not select it! Therefore, I didn't lose any of the programs that were recorded on my hard drive, just the current settings that you'll need to redo -> re-detection of channels, possibly moving and renaming them if necessary, and finally reprogramming the scheduled recordings, whether recurring or not. And that’s it!
My two cents about this type of problem: I suspect that this type of player, for the sake of user-friendliness, keeps information in flash memory or on the hard drive about recent usage and navigation. A bug in the programming of this memory could explain why the player gets stuck in "waiting for DVD" mode. That said, this is just an opinion, I'm not an electronics expert!-
First of all, a big, very big thank you to ecclectica... this is truly a stroke of genius... indeed, it seems to work here! Well, to be tested in the long term, but at least at this moment, it has stopped opening and closing the drawer non-stop (the rack or the cart - that's for those who, having the same problem, might find it easier with other keywords)
Anyway, it's a trick worth trying... I will come back in a few days to let you know if it is confirmed or not
Thanks again and Merry Christmas

For those who have encountered this issue of spontaneous opening on the LG burner, I found the solution by replacing a small switch at the back of the DVD block
Part reference of the switch found: "6600KW3004G micro switch" (type exactly like this on Google)
You need to desolder the defective switch (a very small black block with two small white tabs coming out) and replace it
Everything is fine now (check the forums for advice on dismantling) -
Same problem with an LG RH 278H..
Resolved by ordering the spare part --> EAZ40302021 for my player
5 screws to remove from the cover and 6 screws holding the player with 2 cables attached (power and data ribbon --> the most delicate to remove)
Part sourced after searching on Google from Brelect.fr but there is also:

Hello to everyone who has had a problem with their loading drawer.. you need to take it back to customer service so they can change the loading mechanism.
I also struggled after a first repair that didn't yield any results after a few days.. now I'm crossing my fingers but apparently everything has been fine for a few weeks.
Good luck to everyone.

Hello,
indeed I got a bit excited too quickly and two days later (yes, it actually worked for two days) it started opening and closing non-stop again...
I can't really tell if it's a hardware issue (the reader is broken or a loose connection) or if it's software... When someone answers this question, we might be able to find a solution!
If any of us finds an answer, we'll post it here
Have a good evening-
Drawer problem on a LG RH277H (yet another one...) It keeps opening by itself, displaying 'CLOSE'... Pfff!
Personally, I won't buy LG next time!
I found this that might interest you all:
http://www.nextservices.fr/shop/
In the top left, you type 'LG'
First window, you choose 'DVD, RECORDER,...'
Then search
Towards the middle of the list, you'll find plenty of DVD drive blocks
Open your burner, and look at the DVD block, you'll find a white label with the laser block type...
All that's left is to order it.
To replace it, 6 screws, and two connectors... No need for customer service!
... Provided that your issue is indeed a faulty drive... To be continued. -
Stop everything.. stop the part orders... :) :) :)
After searching all evening, I just found another lead...
Under the front face of the drawer, there is the eject motor.
It is held by a clamp on the printed circuit board, and two clamps on the sides of the motor.
You eject this motor, and on it, there are two small white contacts that detect that the drawer is closed.
I dismantled this small contact block, cleaned the contact tracks inside, and reassembled it...
Attention: It’s micro mechanics... You need to be patient, meticulous, and on a well-lit and clean table... so as not to lose anything...
After reassembly, it worked on the first try...
I will test it for a while, and if it’s good, I’ll take photos of the disassembly and cleaning so you can do it too...
Repair for 0 Euros!
Talk to you later! -

Hello everyone,
Like you, I bought an LG RH 277 in January 2008 and started having problems with the DVD player in October/November of the same year. It opens and closes continuously without being able to read CDs or DVDs. Having purchased LG products several times, I thought there wouldn't be any issues with customer service. Indeed, LG regularly offers exchange options. Thinking that the European warranty was 2 years on all equipment, I foolishly waited, and when I finally decided to call in February, I was told that the warranty had expired by one month. A quote was given to me over the phone by the company that LG outsources for the customer service of DVD players and recorders, and the amount exceeded the price of a new device. I then turned to the internet and various forums to see if this issue was common with this type of device. I discovered this forum, and after reading LeGnome's article, I thought I could try disassembling the unit. Indeed, I disassembled the DVD player, cleaned the connectors of the frames, tested the emergency opening with a paperclip, removed the motor under the tray, and reassembled everything.
At first, it didn't work, and the tray wouldn't open at all. So I reopened the device thinking I must have forgotten to reassemble something. Indeed, the motor is connected to a small rubber pulley linked to another roller by a belt (it's actually just rubber). I hadn't seen this belt during the initial disassembly because it had slipped to the bottom of the player. I retrieved it, reassembled everything, and, oh miracle, everything works perfectly. I don’t think it’s necessary to disassemble the connectors. I personally just manipulated them by hand to see if they were stuck. I hope my experience can help you. -

A big thank you to LeGnome,
I tested his solution.
About 30 minutes of manipulation and since then it’s okay, the LG no longer confuses open and closed.
I confirm, no need to be an expert, just be meticulous and take off your mittens :) -
Hello everyone, drawer problem on LG RH277 recorder, I did the manipulation thanks to this forum and it works, and for anyone who wants photos of the process, please reply.
The drawer doesn't go crazy anymore, but it only closes halfway, does anyone have a solution for this misalignment?
Best regards -
Hi Oueva, can you send me the photos please?
I'll give you my email after your response.
Thank you. -
Hello, here is my email, jbseverin@free.fr, send me yours so I can send you the photo file
Best regards-
Hello, I also had a problem with the drawer opening on an LG burner with a hard drive of type RH387H; in fact, I had just bought the device and after testing it, I noticed that the DVD drawer would not open; I don't know if it was a mechanical or electronic problem, I returned the device to have it checked (under warranty); now it's okay but I don't know what kind of intervention they did at LG, reset or something else?
-

Hello, I replied to you to get your email for the intervention photos, but I haven't received any response from you.
My email is jbseverin@free.fr
Best regards. -
Hello everyone,
I wanted to "isolate" the burner in order to keep the other functions...
Since the device was open, I took the opportunity to perform the cleaning procedure for the drawer motor contacts http://ifndef.altervista.org/index_eng.html (copied and pasted)
Not only has the drawer stopped frustrating me with its movements, but I also recovered all the functions of the burner.
A big thank you for the link to the procedure. -
Well, a big thank you for the solution.
Same problem with an RH 178 and everything is back to normal for not a dime.
Thank you very much. -
Hello
My LG was working very well, but now I can neither record on the disk nor read what’s on it. To try to fix this, I formatted the disk to NTFS. After formatting, my LG only displays Hello on its screen, and nothing on the TV. Thank you for your help, please. -
Good evening everyone,
I'm bringing this topic back up because I have a similar problem with a LG RH 265 DVD recorder.
I carefully followed Le Gnome's advice and it partially fixed my problem.
My initial issue was that my DVD "tray" barely opened and closed immediately. After the manipulations, my tray now opens fully, but it won't close.... It does close, but then immediately opens again.... I don't know what to do anymore. I tried the reset as advised earlier, but I don't understand where the problem might be.
I applied oil everywhere it was needed...
So if you have a solution, I would be grateful because right now the tray is stuck in the open position....
Thanks in advance ;-)
