Connection issue with the system events service

Hello,

A Windows Vista update was installed on my PC a few days ago and since then I have been unable to switch users. It tells me to contact the system administrator.
When I log into my system administrator account (I just created a new standard user account because previously I used the administrator account to use my PC and I had problems with pop-up windows from fp-pc internet that I apparently managed to eliminate with navilog)
When I log in with my administrator account, I am notified:
"Failed to connect to a Windows service, Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service. This issue prevents restricted users from logging into the system. As an administrator, you can check the details in the system event log."
I am using Windows Vista with Bit Defender as antivirus and the Windows firewall.

How can I restore normal Windows functionality (uninstall the updates made by Windows Update? But there are several and they are considered important by Windows? Perform a system restore (but during the last backup, I was infected by fp-pc internet)?)

Thank you in advance for your response.
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 2.0.0.14

I have the same problem, the firewall is dead, the antivirus doesn't detect anything, the PC takes ages to start up, and I have an error message saying that the system notification service is not working... help please because I don't know what to do...
I tested a command prompt that should have done something:
Try this:
- In start > all programs > accessories, right-click on command prompt and "run as administrator"
- In the new window, type sfc /verifyonly then press enter
- If there are errors, type sfc /scannow in this same window

I am running Vista Home Premium.

Thank you ;)

Hello,

To resolve your issue "connection to the service ...",

1 go to Windows start button, all programs, accessories,
2 right-click on command prompt ms/dos and run as administrator,
4 after C:\windows\system32\ type netsh and hit enter,
5 then type winsock reset and press enter,
6 restart your computer,

And for me, the problem disappeared,

david,
