Dvdrip & Xvid

Hello,
I was recently given some movies (on a USB drive) that have Dvdrip or Dvdrip Xvid at the end.
I would like to know what that means and how to watch them on my computer. I've had Satsuki Decoder Pack for a long time, but it seems that it is no longer useful because I can't play the movies. Moreover, I would like to burn them onto CD-R 700MB and convert them to Divx or avi so that my DVD player can read them. So I would like to know how to do that.
Thank you for explaining all this to me.
Eldrid.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

They are less than 700MB (about 695MB), and I have already tried to burn them, but my DVD player doesn't read them, so I think I need to convert them to AVI or DivX, right?

What do you have in “file type” when you right-click properties???
If you have “.avi” you can burn them as “data cd”

I have "Windows Media Video File" or "AVI Video Format"
How do I burn them to a "data CD"? And can this format be read by a standalone DVD player?

What are they in at the moment???

If they are in AVI and you can read them on your computer, you know how to burn them with Nero or another program by creating a """data CD"""

At the end of my movies, I have "Dvdrip Xvid-Id-Thc" and for others, I just have "Dvdrip".

1) What do you use to burn your CDs? If it's Nero, go to Nero Express and choose Data CD
If it's something else, let me know which one it is

2) If your player can read DivX, you'll know; otherwise, you need to convert them to DVD.

No, I don't have Nero. I burn by copying the file I want to burn onto the blank CD inserted in the drive. Then I click on "Burn these files to the CD-ROM" and it opens an assistant for burning.
Maybe I can download Nero, right?
And how do I play it on my computer? Do I need to install a codec?

For burning CDs, it's much easier with Nero or other free software than with Ac Windows

for the codec """ http://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/telecharger 74 divx codecs """

The problem is that I don't have Nero and it's paid. It can't be downloaded for free. Is there another software of the same kind?
Otherwise, the link you gave me for the codecs doesn't work. I was able to download them, but it didn't solve my problem, but thanks anyway ^^

to find the codec, you search for "" divx codec "" on Google

for the program, here is one that I had before but it doesn't work anymore because of another program
