Amstrad CPC 6128 Games

Hello, sorry for the mistakes I make when I write, because I know it's not cool to read someone who makes a lot of mistakes...
As for your issue, I can definitely help you because I've played with an Amstrad 6128 my whole life.
So there are several solutions... insert your disk and type (CAT)
that will show you all the games on the disk...
then you type (RUN") and the name of the game you saw when you did the (CAT)...
If nothing shows up when doing the CAT, you can type (ùcpm), so make sure to use the u with the accent and not the regular u... because sometimes on certain disks the game launches with (ùcpm)...

For example, I'll pretend I'm turning on my Amstrad and I'll pick any game name.... here's what I do:

cat (I click on the RETURN key)...
after that, something like this will appear...

you will see plenty of game titles depending on what's on the disk...

sorciere 2 ko
commando 4 ko
cube 2 ko

there you go, the CAT told me what was on my disk... so I do:

run"sorciere and I hit the RETURN key on my keyboard if I want to open the sorciere game....

and for ùcpm, type it if the cat tells you nothing because, as I explained, sometimes the disk launches with ùcpm

so you just have to type that and as usual hit RETURN...

there you go...

personally, I tell you this because I had my CPC 6128 when I was 6 and I stayed on it until I was 19... that's why I remember everything about the 6128..

There are several key words.....

1st--if you know the name of the game: type in your basic: run"  + the name of the game....

2nd--this is if your floppy disk was locked: type in your basic: ùcpm (use the u with the little hat on top and not the normal one)....

3rd--and this is if you don’t know the name of the game or games, type in your basic cat and when you have typed cat you will see a list appear at the bottom with everything that’s on the floppy disk and the names of your games......

So those are all the commands you need to read a game on one of your floppy disks....

However, I can't play with my controller (which is a PS2 controller with a USB adapter for PC).

CAT (equivalent to DIR for MS-DOS)

This lists the files on the floppy disk.
Then, you look for files ending in .EXE; I believe .BAT files work too, and maybe .COM as well.

Depending on the game, the important file could be:
disc.exe or disk.exe or the name of the game like gryzor for the game grizor, etc., etc., etc.

Then, you type:
run "disc" or run "disk" or run "filename" (without the .exe extension).

You can also do:
load "disc"
then after, do run + enter.
It comes down to the same thing.

A brief summary:

To view files on a floppy disk: CAT command

To launch a program: RUN "program name (e.g. RUN "COLOR")
The default extensions are BIN, BAS (not COM, reserved for CPM programs.
EXE is not a standard extension, we are not on PC :-) ).

A good number of commercial games are launched with RUN "DISK or RUN "DISC

Note that some are started with the CPM boot command |CPM or ùCPM for a CPC Plus.

the word to type is CAT (for catalogue)

I remember that I used to put run"the name of the game.

Initially, you have a blue screen. You need to open and enter run "tartanmpion" which is the launcher. It could be a bin point or a low point. Sometimes the game was launched by |cpm. If you have an image, it generally has 17 k, you need to type the name of the image with the extension + C000 with a comma between the extension and #C000.
