Hello,

I bought a LaCie Hard drive 500 GB and when I plug it in, it appears automatically but it only shows 10 MB of capacity instead of the expected 500 GB...

I tried it on another computer with a Vista setup and the problem is the same. Before returning it to the store, I wanted to know if there could be a logical reason for this loss of memory???
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.14

Hello guys!

So I just received my external hard drive right now, I plug it in, it's 500GB and it's a LaCie. My PC only detects 10MB...

The solution for me:

Control Panel--->Administrative Tools--->Computer Management--->Disk Management.

Select the external hard drive showing 10MB, right-click the mouse, delete the partition.

Now unplug the hard drive and plug it back in.

Still in the "Disk Management" window, it should reappear with the normal size, for me 465.76GB.

Then you format the partition and bingo...a little hard drive that works perfectly!!!

Enjoy!!!
