Mouse clicks twice instead of once.

I came back to tell you how I pseudo-solved my problem:

I opened my mouse, unclipped the cover, used a very thin flat screwdriver to unclip the left switch... and I adjusted the pins inside so they would have more spring...

Basically, I butchered my mouse, which means there's a significant defect and fragility in the manufacturing of this type of micro-switch in many mice, from various brands and in the mid-price range.

For example, I invested in a relatively expensive mouse... so I wouldn't waste my money on 5-6 mice costing 5-18-30-50 euros... it's working great. I chose a mouse designed for intensive use. (80 euros)

My advice, butcher your mouse, or invest directly in an excellent mouse (with many good reviews) so you don't have to pay the same amount for 5 Microsoft, Logitech, Saitek... etc. mice.

Before giving this kind of advice, here's what I did:

- Updated Windows
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the PS2 mouse drivers
- """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" USB
- Changed the PS2 port
- Changed the mouse
- Changed the connection type (PS2/USB)
- Used a PS2/USB adapter
- Tested the mice on other systems
- Threw my mouse out the window
- Threw my PC out the window

Do not plug a USB2 mouse into a USB1 port. For my part, the problem came from there.

AND REMOVE THE DOUBLE-CLICK.

I have the same problem too.
I thought it was the first mouse that was acting up, but it does the same thing with another one.
I'm using Vista Premium...

Good evening, I have the same problem; I think Vista has a lot to do with it, because previously on XP I didn't have this issue. I should mention that I have a wireless mouse on a USB port.

Hi, I know your problem! The left side is worn out; it must be touching the base. I advise you to file it a bit, and I'm sure it won't click twice!

I have had a damn similar problem for a while now. I’m used to double-clicking to avoid clicking on just anything, and suddenly... it started acting up. The cursor reacts to the first click, and well, since I’m someone who hates change, I’m asking for help.

Greetings, I find it amusing all these unanswered messages so I'm adding mine:

I have exactly the same problem on 4 different mice of different brands, optical or ball.

Windows XP Professional SP1 SP2 and SP3, it's been doing this for a long time now.

I found a solution, (however to be verified as I do not have the problem but paradoxically I am looking for how to turn my click into a double click)

- under Vista: right click on the desktop: Personalization
Then click on Mouse Pointers, go to the Button category (the leftmost one), this category is used to define what the click will do (backwards, ctrl, etc...) and choose click for the left button and apply!

Once again I don't know if this technique is reliable but if it doesn't work it's probably a mouse problem.
