Crazy Scroll Wheel

Question

Hello;
It's as a last resort that I'm reaching out to you for a little help before throwing everything out the window... (I'm kidding, but we're not far off)

Equipment:

Desktop PC
Intel Core i5-4460 CPU 3.20 GHz
Windows 8.1 (no, I don't want to install 10 for now)

Problem:

My old mouse having reached the end of its rope, so to speak, I bought a wired mouse - Trust WMS-121 Wired Mouse 4 buttons.
For the buttons and movements of the mouse, everything works perfectly; the problem actually comes from the scroll wheel: when I try to scroll a page, it "jumps" several lines or even constantly goes backwards; so it's completely impossible to use it normally.
I have the problem both online and on programs like Word or PDF Reader
there was no driver CD provided and the Trust website does not offer one.

What I have already tried:

- Changing the USB port
- Switching to an old mouse (same issue; it also "jumps")
- Trying to update my device; it is up to date
- Removing the mouse from my devices and reinstalling it

Can someone please help me?

Try setting the scroll all the way up, then switch back to normal settings... while restarting in the meantime...

As I said: I have already checked this; the drivers are up to date and it says that the device is working properly (which is not the case).

If you've adjusted the scrolling and it still doesn't do anything, it's possible that your mouse has a problem... Customer service!

And these mice work well on another machine, I suppose?

my mouse is called HID mouse and not trust wms 121: apparently, the installed driver is generic.. there should be a better one, but well, if another mouse does the same...
Personally, before throwing the machine away, I would try to enter the BIOS and restore the default values... you never know?
You can also do a restore to a date prior to its commissioning, but all of this seems a bit doomed to failure, the problem is not logical if you have properly adjusted the vertical scrolling and "applied" it...

Have you tried in safe mode?
Regarding the BIOS, no problem if you do EXACTLY what I tell you: spam F2 or Delete as soon as you power on, when you're in the BIOS, you have tabs including one called "exit": there, you have "default settings", use the arrow to select it, confirm and exit the BIOS...
But restoring to a date before the issue might also be enough... if you have a restore point!

Did you adjust the knob in the BIOS?!
Or, rather, did you go into the BIOS AND, under Windows, adjust the knob?
Because I've never seen that kind of setting in a BIOS... if that's the case, I'll know from now on that it exists! ;)

I’m thinking about something: is your scroll wheel "pressable"?
If so, it could be more convenient...?!
You also have the numeric keypad, once you unlock it of course

Hello,
a friend of mine has the same issue with his Razer Naga mouse.
I have already tried all the advice listed in this post, but nothing works; I'm even starting to wonder if it's not a virus causing the trouble, but I've already scanned with the Kaspersky bootable disk without success.
