So, I had the same problem as all of you..
I'm on Vista and I can't download as an administrator, the option doesn’t appear even though I'm an administrator, and I still managed to download Clear but a new error occurs: "800A0046"...

PLEASE help me, I just got my laptop and it's very frustrating not to have MSN...

Hello Anna-Bella, you go into the folder to find the root of your programs, I think it's in Computer/Local Disk C:/Program Files (sorry for any mistakes, I don't have Vista).
Then you look for a folder called Microsoft Silverlight, delete it and uninstall your version of MSN, and download the latest one at the following address:

http://msn-messenger-9.net/en/index.html

Hello bouchtasmae, I think problems can't be avoided, since anything can happen to us on the PC.
But a problem can be fixed, which is why forums like comment ça marche are important ;)

Ok, the solution is really to uninstall ALL programs with "windows live" in their name, using Windows Installer Clean Up. After that, no problem reinstalling msn.

Well, I downloaded Windows Live Messenger 2009 and installed it, but it didn't work very well, so I uninstalled it to reinstall version 8.5. However, during the installation, I encountered error 0x8000ffff. So I deleted everything that started with "Windows Live," I uninstalled Microsoft Silverlight, and I removed MSN 9 using CCleaner, but when I tried to reinstall MSN 8.5, the error 0x8000ffff came back. I've been looking for solutions online for three days.
