Irreparable Failure Solved

Question

Hello,

I have a little problem!
When I want to install Windows Live, my PC gives me this:

Windows Live Installation

An error occurred during the installation. Windows Live Suite could not be installed.
System error details
Code: 0x8000ffff
Description: Irrecoverable failure!

Does anyone have any ideas on the subject? Because I’m lost!

I get the same error message when I try to install Windows Live and the same code (Ox8000fff, irretrievable failure). Could you please let me know how you resolved this issue?

I have exactly the same problem after uninstalling Windows Live Messenger 9 beta; I wanted to reinstall 8.5
and now I can't because I'm getting the error 0x8000ffff. If you find the solution, please share it with us :)

I am on Windows Vista, I installed the beta version and I could no longer uninstall it.... :( I tried to reinstall version 8.5 but I received this error message 0x800ffff
But thanks to Reiben, I managed to solve this problem

- for those who have Vista don't forget to run as administrator after right-clicking
then install
- go to programs => Windows Installer Clean Up => msicuu
and then look for everything related to Windows Live Beta and "clear"

It turns out that I (like a fool) directly deleted wlm 9 beta from the program files. So now I have this problem and I can hardly do anything. But on Microsoft support (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/243349), they explain that with Catastrophicfailure.exe we can resolve the issue by replacing the bad files. Does anyone have the download link for catastrophicfailure.exe, please? Thank you in advance. :)

Ok, the solution is really to uninstall ALL programs with "windows live" in their name, using Windows Installer Clean Up. After that, no problem reinstalling msn.
